How sweet it is to be loved bayou 🦞

Mary Grace and Noah’s rehearsal dinner was as fun and unique as their love. Surrounded by their family and closest friends in the North Georgia mountains, the evening truly felt less like a rehearsal dinner and more like one big family gathering. And to top it all off? A crawfish boil that would rival any boil from Louisiana!

I love when my couples add rehearsal dinner coverage. For me, trust is a paramount part of my process. I spend the whole wedding process building trust with my bride and groom, but trust with the family is truly built on the night of the rehearsal dinner. Parents get to see my face and I finally have the opportunity to meet all the bridesmaids. People learn to get comfortable with me and my camera. When I become just another part of the day and people feel like they know and trust me. That’s when the best memories are captured. The real, raw, and unfiltered emotions that you will look back on for years to come.

The dance floor seriously has to be one of my favorite parts of the night. It’s the time where you get to let loose and just have fun. For me, getting killer dance floor shots means being part of the moment without taking away from the moment. I want my time on the dance floor to feel more like a guest with her point and shoot; familiar and part of the party.

When I tell you that it was a million degrees at Emily and Gavin’s wedding, I am not exaggerating. The kind of heat where stepping outside feels like walking into an oven and everyone is reaching for water and those little personal electric fans anytime the camera was down.

But somehow, none of it mattered.

Even through the sweltering temperatures, you could feel how palpable their joy and excitement were.

It’s one of my favorite reminders that the best wedding days are defined by the people at the center of them. And Emily and Gavin made it incredibly easy to forget the heat because the love surrounding them was impossible to miss.

✨Story Time!✨ The longer you look at this photo, the more fun it gets.This beautiful couple got married on a balcony in Mexico last October. About mid-way through the ceremony, this older woman in a bathing suit decided she wanted to come out on her balcony and watch the show!(all the balconies are connected to private rooms). Well, when they started their exit, she made it clear she had no intentions of moving out of the way for photos and she stayed planted right in the middle of our shots.

This is what I mean by documentary photography. I always tell my couples, “I am not here to capture the perfect day, I am here to capture your day perfectly!” Now, whenever this couple looks back on their wedding photos, they will get to laugh at the memory of the old lady in her bikini, instead of just looking at how beautiful their wedding exit was. My favorite part of Emily and Gavin’s wedding day was, without a doubt, the reception.

The moment guests began arriving, I could tell how intentional these two had been in creating a space where people felt connected immediately. It truly was a celebration rooted in the community that had nurtured their lives and relationship.

The night was filled with belly laughs, happy tears, and the kind of conversations that remind you what weddings are really about. Emily and Gavin understood something so many couples discover on their wedding day: the details are wonderful, but the greatest gift is getting to spend one day surrounded by the people who have loved you through every season.
