ANNUAL BATTLE OF RESACA RE-ENACTMENT LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AWAY: History comes alive at one of the largest annual events held each year in Gordon County: the annual Battle of Resaca and the annual Civil War Re-enactment of the 162nd anniversary of the battle will take place over the weekend of the weekend May 16th and 17th, 2026.
The reenactment is Georgia’s oldest and largest premier event held in the state. The event is located on the historic Chitwood Farm just north of Resaca off of Hwy. 41. The event is hosted by the Georgia Division Reenactors Association, which is an all-volunteer non-profit organization.
The schedule for all of the activities that will be going on during the reenactment weekend include.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
9:00 a.m.: Event site opens (Camps open to the public)
10:00 a.m.:
•Resaca Confederate Cemetery memorial service (Saturday)
•Period church service at the Social Fly (Sunday)
2:00 p.m.: BATTLE REENACTMENT (Camps closed during the battle)
5:00 p.m.: Event site closes (Camps closed to the public)
There will be exciting battles both Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
•Memorial service at the C.S.A. cemetery
•Camp tours and talks with the soldiers
•Continuous living history activities
•Cavalry competition (Reenactors only)
•Period church service
•Period medical demonstrations
•Period music
•Period dance on Saturday night (Reenactors only)
•Reenactor used clothing “yard sale”
•Shopping at sutler row for period wares
•Food and beverage vendors
The event will be held rain or shine! The battles may be delayed while lightning is in the area, but they will begin as soon as possible.
