My first ever big girl film scans are back and I couldn’t be more thrilled. They are so cute! Some our from our family vacation in June (yes I’ve been holding onto these for that long) and some are from my recent trip to Oregon for an elopement I had the honor of photographing.

What are your thoughts on film? Must, hate, love?

I know there is a ‘niche’ you should stick to and on this platform, photography is my ‘lane’.

BUT…..

I am not just a photographer. I am a human, a mother and a wife and I do believe all of these can coexist on this platform in a way that is still feels authentic, natural and seamlessly blended.

I say all of this to say….I do not want to stay in my ‘lane’ anymore even though the algorithm may hate me….thats not the relationship I am trying to build.

I want you all to know me a little bit too and not just the photos I produce.

BECAUSE I BELIEVE YOU NEED TO:

1. LOVE the photographers work you hire. I don’t mean love as in “omg so cute I love it.” I mean you should absolutely ADORE it. Be moved by it. Insanely obsessed and enamoured by their photos. If you don’t feel this way….find someone you become this way with. Your photographer and your photos will thank you in the future.

2. You should be captivated my the photographer themselves. Have a call with them. Learn them. Get a feel for their vibe. You will be spending 98% of your wedding day with them. It would be a shame to love their photos but their personality does not mesh well with yours or maybe they are unprofessional with your guests.

This is what I mean when I say your photographer isn’t just someone who shows up with a camera. It’s someone who grows with you, sees you, and holds your story with care from beginning to end.

These two were one of the very first couples who stepped in front of my camera when I was just starting out. Before I had it all figured out. Before the confidence. Before the growth. They believed in me anyway.

I will never take that kind of trust lightly.

A year doesn’t feel long until you’ve watched your own child grow through it
The tiny hands, the dependence, the way they reach for you without thinking…it all changes so quickly.

These sessions mean something different to me now.
A little heavier.
A little more sacred.
