Yellowstone National Park
I captured this image in Yellowstone National Park, along the stretch between Blacktail Pond and Tower Junction, during a trip in March 2026 with my sister.
This season of life is one of transition. As a widow and mother of three sons?one preparing to leave for college and two close behind?I find myself standing at the intersection of pride and quiet melancholy. For nearly two decades, my purpose has been joyfully rooted in full-time motherhood. Now, as my boys begin to spread their wings, I?m learning to rediscover my own?seeking new ways to remain vibrant, fulfilled, and fully engaged in the beauty life still has to offer.
This journey marked a turning point. It was more than a trip; it was a deliberate step toward renewal?and, I hope, the first of many.
We came to Yellowstone in pursuit of wolves, a long-held dream of mine. And that dream was realized?I was fortunate enough to witness them in the wild. But in an unexpected and unforgettable twist, the American bison emerged as the true stars of the experience.
They were everywhere?commanding, unhurried, and almost theatrical in their presence. Time and again, they seemed to pause just long enough, as if aware of the moment, offering striking compositions and unforgettable encounters. Their quiet strength and enduring presence left a lasting impression on me.
In the end, I gained more than I anticipated: not only the fulfillment of seeing wolves in their natural habitat, but also a deeper appreciation for the resilient and iconic American bison?an enduring symbol of the wild spirit that continues to inspire my journey.
