6.11.26 Of course I had to go visit the common loon (Gavia immer) family this year! When I visited last week, the adults were still taking turns laying on the nest, so the eggs hadn’t hatched yet. Love watching these guys.

6.3.26 A shorebird fan favorite, the piping plover (Charadrius melodus). I saw these plovers at each location I visited during my trip, though interestingly, I only saw one individual bird at each spot. This fella did not seem to pay any mind to me as he ran along the edge of the water looking for snacks.

6.3.26 These beautiful purple martins (Progne subis) were actually the first birds to greet me when I stepped out of the parking lot at MA Audubon Wellfleet for my first morning of birding last week! I took these photos later in the day after returning from my hike because the mid day sun shows their stunning colors better.
