🐾 MEET TRIPP! 🐾

This handsome hound is the definition of a sweetheart! 💛 After months of being spotted as a stray near Caring For Creatures, Tripp finally decided it was time to give up the game of cat-and-mouse—and we’re so glad he did!

Tripp is a goofy, affectionate professional snuggler who loves giving kisses, nose boops, and hugs. He’s happiest with his people and is always eager to make new friends, both two- and four-legged! 🥰🐶

He’s still learning his leash manners and can occasionally get nervous on walks, but with patience, training, and a loving person by his side, this boy is sure to shine. ✨

Whether it’s a hike, trip to the park, or a cozy couch cuddle, Tripp is ready for it all!

💙 Meet Ziggy! 💙

After 3 years in a loving long-term foster home, this 12-year-old sweetheart suddenly found himself without a place to go through absolutely no fault of his own. When his person had to move and couldn’t take him along, Caring For Creatures stepped up and welcomed Ziggy to the sanctuary. 🐾

And this guy? He’s taking it all in stride! Ziggy is a happy, carefree pup with a BIG personality. He wasted no time exploring his new surroundings—and even found himself a stuffed toy to “redecorate.” 😂🧸

Ziggy has quickly won over staff and volunteers with his easygoing nature. He loves people, is house trained, and has lived with other dogs in the past. He’s truly a go-with-the-flow kind of guy who just wants to enjoy his days surrounded by people who love him. ❤️

At 12 years young, Ziggy has plenty of love left to give. Could you be the forever home he’s been waiting for? 🏡🐶

Happy Friday! ☀️ Meet this handsome boy named Alfie! Alfie has been waiting WAY too long for his forever home at our friends Caring For Creatures! 🐾

Meet Alfalfa “Alfie,” an 8-year-old, Shepherd mix with a gorgeous tan coat, white-tipped feet, and the sweetest personality. ❤️

Alfie is housebroken, great in the car, knows lots of commands, loves toys, walks, treats, and—most of all—his people! He’s also perfectly content to relax at home while you’re away.

His foster mom has helped him make incredible progress, and this handsome guy is ready for his forever family! He would do best as the only pet with confident, loving humans who have dog experience and are willing to continue his training.

He’s been waiting a long time. Could YOU be the family Alfie has been waiting for? 🏡❤️

We are back with our friends at Caring For Creatures! Meet Amara! Isn’t she just adorable?

Amara arrived at the sanctuary in early February of this year with her companion, Mila. Both girls were frightened, and Amara was incredibly thin with open and healed wounds. With medical care, yummy food, warmth, patience, and lots of love, this sweet girl has completely blossomed. ❤️

Amara is a friendly, smart, and resourceful girl who loves leash walks, playing tag or tug-of-war, and relaxing in the sunshine. She’s gone from constantly being on alert to learning what it feels like to feel safe.☀️🐶

Now, we’re looking for a loving, patient home where Amara can continue to grow, with a fenced yard, cozy bed, daily walks, and—most importantly—a family who will show her the love she deserves. 🏡💗

There is just something so special about capturing families simply being themselves. 💛📸

We recently had the joy of photographing families from the Child Health Partnership and Families First, and what a special time that was! From genuine smiles to the little in-between moments, we loved getting to preserve these memories for such incredible families in the community.

We had such an awesome time!!!

We are so excited to host Michael Tietgen from as our First Friday Artist for the month of August.

Michael shares, "I am a Virginia-based photographer and the founder of Familiar Studios. I create imagery that celebrates the connection between people, animals, and the natural world. The focus of my work blends storytelling with authenticity, drawing inspiration from quiet moments and the relationships that shape our lives. Through Familiar Studios, I am also able to support local animal shelters and nonprofits. I believe photography can be both an art form and a force for positive change for the shelter animals in our community. "

Michael will be with us tonight for First Friday from 5-7 at Community Counseling Center. Come see his incredible photography, enjoy light refreshments, and celebrate the start of August with us.
