He’s home!!!
368 days overseas.
49 days together.
319 days apart.
We thought we had a plan. Justin would spend a year serving overseas, and I’d stay in Memphis close to my family while helping care for my parents. But God had a different plan. Before he even left for Pakistan, we lost my dad in March and my mom in May.
Suddenly, everything we thought the year would hold changed. Instead of spending it caring for my parents, I spent it learning how to live without them. It became a season of grief, leaning on my faith, my incredible friends and family, our pets, and a husband who loved and supported me from the other side of the world.
Meanwhile, Justin spent the year living alone. We held onto every phone call, every FaceTime, and every visit we could make happen. There were so many days that felt impossibly long. Neither of us had it easy. I know how difficult it was for Justin to be so far away during one of the hardest seasons of my life, and I’ll never be able to fully express how grateful I am for the way he continued to love, encourage, and support me every single day. Through every hard conversation, every tear, every airport goodbye, and every joyful reunion, he never stopped showing up for us.
Next up: a week in Maine with family, closing another chapter as we pack up my mom’s house, and then moving into our new home in Virginia. While Virginia isn’t new to us, this season will be. A new house, a new city, and new memories to make. Looking back, I can see God’s faithfulness in every high and every low, even when I couldn’t understand what He was doing in the moment.
Babe, thank you for your unwavering love, your strength, your perseverance, and for choosing us every single day, no matter the distance. I am endlessly grateful for you and so incredibly proud of you.
The countdown is over! Welcome home. 🤍
PS. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸
And a HUGE thanks to Wildflowers Photography | Mishelle Naro for snapping some midnight airport photos for us, that well cherish forever. The best bff in all the land.
