Sometimes you go out looking for one thing and nature gives you something better.

I was up before sunrise in Key Largo this morning hoping to photograph the Falcon 9 launch. The launch photos didn’t quite turn out the way I had envisioned, but while I was waiting, a distant thunderstorm started lighting up the horizon beneath a sky full of stars.

Rocket or not, I’d say the early wake-up was worth it.

There’s something pretty incredible about watching lightning flash miles away while the stars are still shining overhead.

Yesterday’s Cup practice at Charlotte was a tough one to shoot. The garage area was incredibly quiet, and you could feel the weight of losing Kyle Busch everywhere you went.
I have shot a lot of races, but never a day like this. I just tried to capture the real emotion and the tributes from the teams. Seeing everyone at RCR working in silence and the 8 up on the board really put things into perspective. It is a massive loss for the sport.

The racing world lost an absolute legend today and I am still trying to process this. I am completely stunned. Kyle Busch has just always been a constant in my life when it comes to racing. It has been a wild ride going from watching him on TV and sitting in the grandstands to eventually being involved in the sport as much as I have been. Plenty of times we’ve passed on pit road and gave each other that simple, quiet head nod. He was an absolute beast behind the wheel. He poured his heart into the sport and gave us some of the most unbelievable moments in racing history. Whether you loved or hated him, he left the sport in a much better place. I’m proud to have captured these moments. The track is going to feel incredibly empty without him out there.

Spent Sunday trackside at Martinsville Speedway for the Cook Out 400 which is always a great. It was fun to capture Chase Elliott grabbing the win on Sunday after Denny Hamlin controlled so much of the race.
