Your fur babies are family too, and I’m always so excited when you want to include them in your session!

One of the many beautiful parts of doing in-home newborn sessions is that we can easily include your pets without any extra stress. I know for so many of you, your pets were your first “babies.” They were there before the kids came along, and now they get to watch your littles grow up right alongside you. That bond is so special and absolutely deserves to be captured.

And here’s the thing: their time with us is so fleeting too. Just like our babies grow up in the blink of an eye, our pets age faster than we’d like to admit. Having those photos of them with your newborn becomes even more precious as the years go by.

I’m completely comfortable working with all kinds of pets during sessions, so don’t worry about whether they’ll cooperate perfectly. I totally get it… sometimes they end up being more overstimulating than the actual baby! They’re excited, curious about what’s happening, and just want to be part of everything. But that’s exactly why capturing them is so important. Their excitement and love for your growing family is real and genuine, and those are the moments you’ll want to remember.

So please, bring them into the room! Whether it’s your dog who’s been your loyal companion for years or your cat who barely tolerates everyone (we’ll make it work, I promise), they’re part of what makes your family yours, and I’d love to include them.

I recently had the privilege of photographing Ginny and her brand story, and I could feel it immediately…the kindness in her eyes, the warmth of her soul, the way she truly listens with her whole presence!

She’s a therapist here in Charlotte who specializes in infertility, grief, loss, perinatal mental health, and postpartum mood disorders. The families I walk alongside often carry these same stories and our work intersects in the most sacred spaces, where heartbreak and hope can exist side by side.

Ginny approaches her work with humor, gentleness, kindness, and advocacy. Always making sure her clients feel safe and empowered in their healing. You know when you meet someone and just sense they’re safe? That’s Ginny.

I wanted to share something really important with you all! I recently had the chance to photograph my friend Julie for her business, , and honestly, getting to witness her warmth and knowledge wrapped up in so many beautiful ways was really special.

She’s the real deal.

Julie is Charlotte’s only certified Fertility Awareness Educator, and the work she’s doing is honestly so needed right now. Here’s the thing, most of us were never taught how our bodies actually work in school. We got the basics, sure, but nothing about truly understanding our cycles, our fertility, or that there are real alternatives to hormonal birth control. Julie is filling that gap in such an incredible way.

What I love about her is how passionate and knowledgeable she is, but also how welcoming and non-judgmental her approach is. She’s not here to tell anyone what to do – she’s here to give people the information and tools to make informed choices about their own bodies. She combines Fertility Awareness education with holistic doula support, so she’s really supporting the whole community through different stages of life.

Julie is hosting a FREE Body Literacy Q&A on Wednesday, February 18th at 7pm. This is your chance to ask all those questions you’ve had about reproductive health, menstrual cycle physiology, cycle mapping, using Fertility Awareness for contraception – anything you’ve been curious about but never knew who to ask.

The thing about seasons is that they come and go without a thought. Spring days turn to summer nights. Warm fall colors turn into cool winter.

The seasons move a little faster as your family grows. They become a little more chaotic but also a little sweeter. Your seasons are measured now by sleepless nights, dance classes, school schedules, and the magic found in holiday traditions and everyday moments alike.

Just like seasons, however, your sweet little ones are ever changing. We often forget to slow down and think that time is on our side, but it moves so much faster than we can fathom. Can we talk about second baby sessions for a minute?

They hit different, and here’s why…

When you’re booking for baby number two, you might think it’ll be just like the first time, all those sleepy newborn snuggles and tiny detail shots.

And yeah, we’ll absolutely capture all of that. But what actually happens is so much better.

Your toddler crashes the session in the best way possible. Your partner suddenly knows exactly how to soothe a fussy baby while also preventing a meltdown from your three-year-old. You’re visibly more tired but somehow more yourself. And those unplanned moments of your oldest kissing their sibling’s head? I’m not crying, you’re crying.

Second baby sessions don’t just capture a newborn – they capture the exact moment your family finds its new rhythm. The chaos, the tenderness, the “how are we doing this with two kids” energy that somehow feels both overwhelming and exactly right.

Every newborn session reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. This sweet girl was an absolute dream, sleeping peacefully while we captured all those fleeting details that change so quickly.
