For this shot, I wanted to keep the mood of the theater while still giving the subject clean, controlled light.

I balanced my flash with the ambient light so the step lights in the theater would still show in the final photo instead of disappearing into the background. The flash gave me the shape and detail on the model, while the slower shutter and ISO allowed the practical lights and warm atmosphere of the room to come through
