📍 A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT TRAVEL FEES 🚗💨
I’ve been getting quite a few inquiries lately for Lake Michigan sessions and other locations that are an hour or two away, so I wanted to take a minute to explain how my travel fees work.
Every Soul Flower Photography session includes up to 30 miles of travel. Anything beyond those 30 miles has a travel fee based on the additional mileage.
And yes… sometimes that fee might look a little high.
But here’s the thing:
Sometimes I’m driving 200–250 miles round trip for one session.
That can mean 3–4 HOURS of driving before we even factor in the actual photography time.
Driving for 2,3 or 4 hours is a LOT of time. That’s time I could have spent photographing another session, editing galleries, answering emails, planning sessions, or doing all of the other things that go into running a photography business.
And let’s not forget that gas is almost $5 a gallon. Like what??😳
So the travel fee isn’t just about gas. It helps cover mileage, vehicle expenses, and—probably most importantly—the hours of my time spent getting to and from your location.
I LOVE traveling for sessions. I genuinely do. Give me Lake Michigan, a cute little beach town, a gorgeous field, a hidden gem, or a location I’ve never photographed before and I’m probably going to be ridiculously excited about it!
But traveling that far means I’m dedicating a significant portion of my day to you & your session.
So when I quote a travel fee, please know that it isn’t random or excessive. There are very real costs associated with traveling long distances for a session. I’m not trying to make it rich on your road trip 😉
I’m happy to travel for you. I just need the travel to make sense for me & my small business, too. ❤️
