I just want to bring passion to every photo I take, every moment I capture, every love story I see. But why photography? Why do I have a passion for it?

At 15 years young, I found myself in search of a hobby, and picked up a professional camera for the very first time. Little did I know how one seemingly insignificant decision would lead me towards one of my greatest passions. With some hard work (and plenty of trial and error), I started shooting families, seniors, engagements, and eventually my biggest dream of all, weddings. Well, have you ever

heard lines like, “They grow up so fast!”, or “You’re only young and in love once.”? There’s a significant amount of truth to this. Moments don’t last forever. In fact, that’s the defining quality of a moment. They’re over in the blink of an eye. My goal is to preserve them with the “blink” of my camera shutter. It’s not only my goal but my privilege. The quiet beauty of eloping + the uncontainable joy of marriage is a match made in heaven…like these two.

An honor to capture Daniella and David’s wedding, the most important day of their lives.

Even though I shoot weddings often, I am ALWAYS looking for ways to make a set of images that reflects my signature style but looks different than my other photographs. Like a spice brand with different seasoning combos. Does that make sense?

Maybe not but hoping you get my drift 😜

Capturing 40 years of constant, covenant love is one of the heavier privileges I’ve had in my career. Weddings come often. 40 years feels rare.

I give it everything I have with every shoot, wedding, and occasion, but with Melanie and Paul, I wanted all of their rich history to be felt through the photographs. I wanted the tones to reflect emotional depth. I wanted detail. I wanted quiet, comforting intimacy.

Quite easy to achieve with Paul and Melanie.

It was quite literally the perfect day with wonderful guests and incredible vendors. I’ll make a post later to show the hard work of all the amazing people involved, but enjoy a few of my favorite captures.

It was so hard to choose even a handful from my time with Sarah and Allen.

While we were watching the weather like a hawk, it didn’t stop us. Love these laughter filled images, balanced by some with some artful romantic tension.

Spent my birthday doing what I do best: shooting a wedding.

And it was a special and beautiful one at that. Got to photograph Emma and Parker at the church where their love bloomed (and also my home church).

While there was some concern about the rain, it only came for a moment just to bless the day with its presence…and the photos couldn’t have been more precious.

You don’t need to dish out hundreds, sometimes thousands, on styled shoots to let your creativity work.

Are they fun? Yes! Can you create amazing photos? Oh my goodness yes. I’ll probably do some in the near future.

But as creatives, do we limit ourselves to location and vendors to determine whether or not we can execute beautiful photography?

That’s what I decided to find out. I hand picked a couple of vendors, a couple, and my parents’ backyard (yes you read that right) and started shooting. Speaking of parents, my artist mom put together the backdrop.

I was nervous. I almost thought I couldn’t make it look good enough.

But, it stretched me. It made me think differently. And, the photos were magical and luxurious. All in a residential backyard.

But, here’s some of the final product. You decide.
