Another day of storms with some becoming strong to severe in the Carolinas.

Timing: This afternoon into the overnight.

Main Threats: Lightning, torrential downpours, strong straight line winds.

We will need to watch these storms tomorrow for a legitimate strong wind threat.

Storms overriding an atmosphere with a lot of downward momentum is a recipe for tree damage and some power lines coming down!

TROPICAL UPDATE: The EURO has joined the GFS (as weird as that is to type) in mostly trapping our gulf energy. This is good news for areas along the Gulf! There will still be rain, but if this gets trapped the flooding threat is much lower!

However, it now shows some spin along a leftover frontal boundary near the Carolina coast. This does have at least some ensemble support to back it up. I'll have a video update out later today!

Don't be surprised to see some isolated areas of flooding towards Matthews, Wedington, and surrounding communities!

No doubt there will be some spin in the Gulf next week. The question is where does it go, and how slow does it crawl. That will determine the extent and location of the flood threat.
