The likely coastal storm next week spells serious trouble for our coastline. Things are already fragile after the nor'easter a few weeks ago.

A stalled out storm no matter how strong will cause problems along the coast next week if it unfolds like the Euro/Euro AI depict.

The big question is track and strength which we will iron out over the coming days.

There have only been 3 super El Niños on record since 1950. Here’s what happened in each of those winters. We know it will be wet. The question is whether the cold air can line up with it.

Isaias did a number, as a regional tornado outbreak worked through the Carolinas this weekend.

Here are the facts:
- SC averaged only 47 October tornadoes in 76 years. Isaias added 6 in two days, about one-eighth of SC’s entire October history.

- NC had 10 in one afternoon, about a third of a normal year.

- Sunday’s 11 Carolina tornadoes tie for the third-most on any October day since 1950. The record is 13, set twice in October 2017: Oct. 8 (Nate) and Oct. 23. The pending surveys could tie it.

Surveys are still pending in Harnett County and western Wake County, so this number is likely to rise further.
