We tend to shoot quite a lot of “Brand Message Videos” that use interview and B-Roll footage to deliver a quick, punchy message. However, this recent project with Hourglass Diamonds took a slightly different approach to the typical formula and adopted more of a storytelling approach, rather than simply delivering a corporate message.
Justin wanted to create something with a more adventurous, intimate, and cinematic feel to it, and a few elements that we really enjoyed experimenting with in this piece were:
- Non-traditional closeup interview angles on “expressive” body parts like the hands and eyes
- Cutaways to archival footage telling a story from the past
- Music (and light sound effects) that are more reminiscent of a film score than a brand video
