I haven’t posted many photos recently because I’ve been focusing on a manuscript I’m working on, but I’ve still been taking photos. I frequently take photos for my job, and I often go out on photo expeditions.
Today, however, I was on the way home from work and this rainbow stared me down for the majority of my drive. I said to myself, “there’s no way it’ll still be there by the time I find a decent place to pull over and take a photo.” Well, sure enough, it was.
As I worked on this photo to post, a song popped into my head, 'Promises' by Maverick City Music. For those who aren’t familiar, it speaks of the various promises God gave to his people in the Old Testament. Of course it’d pop into my head, because the rainbow was a symbol of the promise he gave to Noah after the flood. More importantly, the song made me think of all the promises He’s given to me.
It’s easy to doubt. That rainbow won’t be there when I arrive. That promise was just talk, but God won’t follow through. Who am I to deserve a promise from God? But the fact is, He always fulfills His promises.
There is a promise which I doubted, but recently I’ve seen developments pertaining to it. My doubts about God fulfilling this promise had already dwindled, and then I saw this rainbow. For me, the rainbow isn’t a reminder of His promise to me, but rather a reminder of God’s faithfulness to me. I’m so thankful that His faithfulness is greater than my faith.
