As cesarean awareness month comes to a close, I just want to remind you that having a C-section does not mean you will always need to have cesareans with future pregnancies.

As a matter of fact, ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) states that vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) is a safe and reasonable choice for many moms.

So if your OB says “once a cesarean, always a cesarean” without any consideration for your personal history and risk factors, find a new doctor 🚩

April is Cesarean Awareness Month, and I vote this year we start treating c-section moms like the absolute baddies they are 💪🏻

Every single mom who gives birth is just making the best choice she knows how to make with the information available to her. C-section moms are making the choice to take on the cuts and risks to her own body for the sake of her baby. Cesareans don’t magically stop being MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY, with all of the risks and recovery involved, just because you happen to get a sweet little baby out of it.

Are there issues in the medical system that have contributed to the high c-section rate? Yes, of course! But that’s not a burden we rest on the mom’s shoulders - and sometimes, c-sections ARE necessary and life-saving!

So cheers to all the moms out there who are in the postpartum trenches while also recovering from surgery - because that is not for the faint of heart! 🥂

I take a very limited number of births each month so that I can make sure I am available for my birth clients. This is my current availability for the first 6 months of 2026, but you can absolutely inquire for later dates too.
