The Swan House has been on my bucket list for many, many years. Partially because.. well, just look at it. It’s iconic for a reason. Genuinely one of the most beautiful venues in the country. But also because I am admittedly a massive Hunger Games fan, iykyk. Just standing here was *surreal*

This was also such a good reminder of why I cherish the opportunity to do destination wedding work. Getting to shoot in locations and venues that have their own stories to tell, that are art in and of themselves, then layering couples’ stories and personalities into that is pure magic.

It feels like a good day to share some quiet moments from a wedding that will forever hold space in my mind.

Wedding days are many things. Full of many different types of moments and emotions.

But moments like this..
Quiet. Intentional. Spiritual. Selfless. Full of nothing but love and peace and God..

These moments sometimes feel rare during the chaos of a wedding. And that isn’t a complaint. To be a wedding vendor is to embrace, love, and thrive in chaos.

Dusk in Honfleur, the sailboats in the harbor enveloped by the painted skies, silently bidding adieu to the last of the day’s light. Assurance that the sun will rise and set again tomorrow.

Cherry blossoms, just beginning to bloom in the brisk early morning air on a quiet street in Paris. Their presence equally assuring and fleeting.

Both captured on 35mm film, scanned by yours truly, and combined on a whim into a digital double exposure that just makes my heart happy.

Best of WV Weddings 2025 🤍✨

Still can’t believe you all looked at my photos and little ole me and took the time to vote for MWP as the Best of WV Weddings in Engagement or Bridal Portraits.

This is for 9 year old me, who was crushed when I lost my most prized possession—my camera (and all the memories within)—on a school field trip.

For 15 year old, me who was so unsure of myself and felt so alone and found solace in exploring photography and expressing myself through my art.

For 19 year old me, who took a leap and changed my major to photography with no real plan for where it would take me or what I wanted to do with it, just a love for the art form and a desire to create.

For 22 year old me, who graduated and discovered my love for wedding photography and decided to turn my passion into a business.

For 25 and 26 year old me, who faced unexpected hurdles with unimaginable pain, and had to put my dreams and passion on hold to recover and prioritize my family.

For the girl who has pushed and fought, juggled a million things at once, fallen hard and gotten up stronger than I ever could’ve imagined, and who, through it all, always found my way back to my roots: documenting love and friendship and joy, the unseen, the small details, the emotion and movement and depth behind the moments.

I love this job. I love creating art and spending my days around beautiful people with even more beautiful souls. I love getting to love and pray for each and every person this passion brings into my life. I love the friends this career has brought me, both in my incredible couples and so many wonderful vendors who share my joy for this wild industry.

To each of you who took the time to vote, and to each of the wonderful couples who has trusted me to preserve your memories for you over the years, I can’t say thank you enough. Your trust in me and support of me is the real award.

Personality pics ✨

I haven’t shared my own face in a while, so I thought I’d pop in and say hiiii, I’m Madison/Maddie/Mads/the girl with the camera, the girly you’re hiring to hang out with you on your wedding day 🤪🤗

Clearly I belong behind the camera (where I’m much more poised and confident) because as soon as you throw me in front of the camera, the only think I know how to do is 😚✌🏻my millennial is showing

Some fun facts about your fav wedding photographer:
- I’m a romantic at heart, but also simultaneously a huge nerd. You will catch me getting lost in romantasy books any time I can
- I’m a momma to the most precious (and sassiest 😅) three-year-old girl who loves music and dancing and movies and animals. She’s the best of me for sure
- I have a BFA in photography from WVU & I’m almost done with my masters degree 😎 someone please tell me to stop going back to school after this!!
- I’ve been picture obsessed since I was a child. I vividly remember sobbing in elementary school because I lost my camera on a school field trip and never found it
- Jesus is my guiding light in life, and my church family may as well be my real family. I believe marriage is a gift from God and wedding memories deserve to be preserved with immense care and attention to reflect that
- I’ve had picc lines twice in my life (in 2021 and again in 2022) for (unrelated) terrible illnesses that tried to 💀 me but I’m still kicking it and believe those wild experiences gave me a very unique outlook on life & the way I capture memories

Black and white previews of F&S’s Annapolis wedding last month 🤍

I will always cherish the couples who intentionally design their wedding days to fit who they truly are. For these two, that resulted in the most easygoing, organic, chill (but also very fun) wedding day with lots of space for creativity and immaculate vibes from start to finish.

It was genuinely so incredible to experience this day alongside them, documenting their relationships and emotions with honesty and artfulness, and becoming part of their world for the day. I actually don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder at a wedding than I did during this one. The fact that we had the best media team only made it that much easier and more enjoyable 🤪📷

I have so much more I want to say about these two, but I’ll save some of my rambling for when the full gallery is complete and the film scans are back 👀

I think it’s time to finally share this on the feed

This is the first of 3 of my images to be featured in Glamour’s winter bridal advertorial campaign. Someone pinch me!!

When I was selecting images for the campaign, I knew I had to include at the iconic venue. I mean, what an absolute vision.

Golden hour at Stone Haven is truly unlike any other. You feel like you’re on top of the world when you look out over the balcony. And everything came together so perfectly for this photo. The golden hour sun gently highlighting the joy on their faces. Her veil draping gracefully down the staircase. The intricate detailing of the iconic glass house casting entrancing shadows in the background. You truly couldn’t ask for a more romantic setting to showcase your love.

I have big goals in 2026, and among those include putting myself out there more and improving some of the technical aspects of my business. When Glamour emailed me, inviting me to join this campaign, first, I didn’t believe it was real 🤣 I had to do some serious Googling to make sure the contact was legitimate, haha. And when I sat back and thought about it, I realized it aligns perfectly with both of those goals and that I had to take the chance.

As an artist, it’s always exciting beyond words to see your work featured in any capacity. I’ve had my work in multiple magazines, local and national. I’ve had work in exhibitions and galleries. I’ve won awards. I’ve been very blessed on my journey as an artist. But this one feels particularly special as a 90s kid who grew up reading Condé Nast magazines from Glamour to Allure to Teen Vogue.

Thank you to every one of you who has trusted me with your precious memories and allowed me to create art for you. This is all because of you 🫶🏻
