There are several bo***ir studios in Charleston, here is what makes Paolo Portraits unique.
Great experiences start often with a seed of an idea.
Maybe you've been thinking about this for a while. Maybe a friend of yours talked about it.
It's a bit intriguing โ just thinking that for once, you can be the center of attention. The audacity setting aside a bit of time for you and nobody else. To do what you want to do, free of judgment :) A bo***ir session? Really? And as soon as you thought about it, the usual voices show up: Is this really for someone like me? At my age? With my body, right now, as it is?
Please keep reading. Because this experience was built specifically for that version of you.

Not as an afterthought but as a deliberate choice.
The truth is, most bo***ir photography is aimed at a younger woman โ and the images reflect that. There's nothing wrong with that. But it leaves out an entire population of women who, if anything, have more to bring to a session like this: more self-knowledge, more history, more of the kind of beauty that only comes from having actually lived.
What I've noticed, after years of doing this work, is that the women who walk into my studio in their 40s, 50s, and beyond are the ones who walk out most transformed. Not because I changed them, they were already beautiful and amazing, but because they did something remarkable. They showed up when everything in our culture, or their husband/boyfriend/what-have-you told them not to. The photographs simply tell the truth about who they actually are.
I photograph this age group because this is where the work matters most. And because I know, from my own life โ I'm in my late 50s, married to a woman my same age โ exactly what it feels like to watch someone you love stop seeing herself the way you see her. I have the lofty goal of helping change that perception in our society, one session at a time.
