𝗜𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝘁?

Bo***ir is a very fascinating field of portraiture. On the surface, it looks like it's about making sexy pictures. On the surface, it looks superficial, just photos to look pretty in. On the surface, it can even seem like vanity.

And yet, all those things are actually not true.

All the women who stepped into my studio and had a bo***ir session are everyday women with children, families, careers, ups and downs and simply needed to reaffirm themselves, to discover that they matter, they are attractive, they can go through the next chapters in life with their head held high.

For sure, bo***ir is self-expression. You might be curious about how it feels to play a certain part...

“Oh my God, I’m hot!”

That was Amanda’s reaction when she first saw the portraits from her Hollywood Bo***ir session.

I live for moments like that.

Amanda is not a professional model. She is a local businesswoman who had followed my work for several years. She loved the classic Hollywood style, the black-and-white film, and the way the women in my portraits looked confident, elegant, and glamorous.

But admiring the photographs and deciding to have a session herself were two very different things.

But, a recent breakup made her decide to finally do it, to treat herself, and to get absolutely tangible proof of her beauty.

I always tell my clients that the best reason to do a bo***ir session is to validate yourself. Do not do it for others. Do it for yourself first and, if you want, give an album or some prints to somebody important in your life as a gift.

And so, Amanda decided that the session could be something positive she did for herself. It could be a way to reconnect with the confident woman she knew was still there, even if that confidence had been bruised by what she had recently experienced.

She did not come to my studio because she wanted to become somebody else.

I did not change Amanda. I did not do anything drastic to alter her ...

𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

I just wrote that in my new article and I meant every word of it.

We live in a world that sends women — especially women over 40 — a very specific message: be practical, be responsible, put others first, and quietly let go of the parts of yourself that feel too indulgent, too bold, 𝘁𝗼𝗼 "𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵". The lingerie stays in the drawer. The idea of an "adventure" is dismissed and a bit of the "salt" of life is taken away form you.

The idea of a bo***ir shoot gets filed under "𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘦." And another small piece of joy gets quietly killed.

I've been photographing women for long enough to know what happens on the other side of that decision. When a woman walks into my studio and dares to try to be seen, to be celebrated, to be herself, regardless of what dream she has, and feel beautiful in it, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁𝘀. Something really wonderful happens. It changes the way she carries herself, the way she talks about herself. And she sees it in the woman look at her in the mirror.

My latest article gets into all of it — the doubts, the voices that discourage you, and why the women who push past those voices find something precious.

Charleston ladies 40 and over...

Curious about bo***ir, but not sure where to begin?

Maybe you wonder what you would wear, whether you have to wear lingerie, how private the session is, or whether you would know how to pose.

Those are exactly the questions I answer in **The Hollywood Bo***ir Style Guide for Women Over 40**.

It is a private 20-page guide to what to wear, how to prepare, and how to look elegant, confident, and beautiful without feeling overexposed.

Download it, keep it on your phone, and read it when you have a quiet moment to yourself.

You may discover that bo***ir can be far more tasteful, private, and beautiful than you expected.
