As I get ready to say goodbye to August, I’ve found myself doing a lot of reflecting, and I keep coming back to one thing...the people. So far this season, I’ve had the honor of photographing Class of 2027 seniors from 10 different states and across South Carolina, all making their way to Charleston to tell their own story.
The part of photography I love most isn't the camera, the pretty light, finding the perfect location, or getting all the technical things just right. It truly is the people I get to meet. The places that mean something, the stories that bring you here, the parents who tear up behind my camera, and the seniors who show up a little nervous and leave feeling confident and excited. This is my why.
How lucky am I that I get to step into a chapter of so many families’ lives and turn it into something they can hold onto forever? Sometimes that chapter begins hundreds of miles away and leads all the way to Charleston. Sometimes it’s right here in South Carolina. Either way, it’s something I never take lightly or for granted.
So, as senior year begins and we turn the page from August into the fall months, I want to say thank you. Thank you to every Class of 2027 senior who has stepped in front of my camera so far. Thank you to the families who have trusted me with these memories. Thank you for traveling, for bringing your stories, for letting me wander through this charming city with you, and for reminding me why I love what I do, even on the hardest of days.
These are the beautiful seniors who have made this season so special. Happy , my Class of 2027 girlies. Here’s to your senior year! 🩷
