The Blue Angels air show was scheduled for Saturday. I had my camera ready and the batteries fully charged since Friday night. When Saturday morning arrived, however, it was rainy and overcast. Every few hours, I peered out the window, hoping the rain would stop and the sun would break through. But no, the rain was relentless, and the sky only grew gloomier.
While keeping an eye on the weather, I monitored the official media channels for updates on whether the show would be called off. Every update said the same thing: "The show is not canceled; organizers are closely monitoring the weather." It wasn't until after 1:00 PM that the official news finally broke: the air show was canceled due to the poor weather conditions.
Sunday morning brought an unexpectedly beautiful, sunny day. I decided to head out to take some photos. I had two options: Magnolia Plantation or the beach. Since I had just visited Magnolia Plantation about three weeks ago, I chose the beach, hoping to spot some beautiful sea birds.
The sea was rough due to high winds, so there weren't many birds around. Then, around 11:00 AM, I suddenly heard the roar of jet engines. I looked up quickly and saw the Blue Angels flying straight toward me. As it turned out, the team wanted to say goodbye by performing two flyover loops.
