Time to dance. I loved how the backlit water made it look like these egrets were dancing amongst the stars.

A lot of things change around Jordan Lake when the water level drops quite a bit. Old roads appear, housing foundations emerge and some areas get cut off from the rest of the lake. When this one section gets cut off it continually shrinks until it is completely dried up. As it shrinks the fish get concentrated in one area and the local birds have a feast!

I drive by this area a lot and had noticed the shrinking of the "pond" as well as the large number of congregating birds every morning. Even though I do not consider myself a wildlife photographer I could not pass up the opportunity to photograph herons and egrets close up. The last two mornings have been so fun watching the birds catch fish, battle to keep others away and if I am not mistaken a little courtship as well (I could be wrong 🤣). Anyway, I've made a lot of mistakes and taken a lot of out of focus images but I think I captured enough to scratch the itch.
