The little in-between moments are oftentimes to me, the most memorable ones. They are the moments we take for granted sometimes. And so, they're some of my favorite to capture and let happen naturally.
Like a big brother who very much wanted ice cream and wanted it *now*.
Or yes, the endless boogers getting sucked out (still doing this for my 6 yo).
The bed jumping, finger holding, hand holding.
Little soft glances at the baby in your arms.
Being handed a flower, which might feel second nature by now to receive.
But the thing is, none of these moments last forever.
The way their fingers wrap around yours change as their hands get bigger.
The pull of friends, independent play, fun activities,
all of which slowly pulls them in different directions.
Where they slowly expand their circle of life,
and you're still a big part but perhaps,
no longer as firmly at the center of it all.
I've been feeling this feeling of vastness lately, especially as summer inches closer. I look at my calendar and realize how the length of summer I get with him from 0-5 is slowly going to decrease from this point forward. And it feels somewhat like trying to keep the sand from slipping through my fingers.
