Smooth jazz, a glass of scotch and softly falling snow. Shoot for Harth Builders

The warmth of accent lighting can add some major atmosphere to a photograph. Sometimes “all lights off” isn’t the best option. Know the final vibe you’re going for and shoot for that, literally 📸

Repost from Master Design Cabinetry

When we first laid out the rift-sawn white oak for this project, matching the horizontal grain across the entire run was only half the battle. The real challenge sat right in the middle: integrating a concealed coffee station into a 108.5-inch cabinetry stack.

On a unit this height, there is zero margin for site error. The pocket doors could not just slide open. Every reveal had to line up to the millimeter with the upper cabinet doors above and the drawer banks below.

Making a wall look this clean comes down to the work done months before install day:

Symmetrical Reveal Alignment: We set exact 3mm to 4mm pocket gaps so the door faces stay completely flush with adjacent face frames.

Retraction Cavities: We engineered dedicated pockets using heavy-duty, soft-close track hardware to support door weight without flexing or internal rubbing.

Early Site Coordination: We worked directly with the builder on-site to verify the floor was level and wall framing was plumb within 1/16 inch before cabinetry arrived.

Integrated Function: Once the doors retract, the hidden workstation takes over with an integrated prep sink, task lighting, and storage built for daily use.

Swipe through to witness the transformation of a closed oak wall into a fully retracted pocket door, accompanied by our cabinet designer Don CAD drawings.

When you design a main kitchen run, do you prefer to keep the coffee station on display, or hide it all behind closed oak doors?
