Not every baby wants to sleep during their session—and that’s perfectly okay.

My newborn sessions are always baby-led. We move at your little one’s pace, adjusting to their needs with zero pressure or rush. Some moments are calm, others are wide-eyed or wiggly—and all of it is welcome.

5 Must-Have Photos With Your Newborn

As a mom and a photographer, I know how quickly those first few days pass—and how much you’ll want to hold onto every tiny detail. These are the five must-have images I always try to capture during your newborn session:

🤍 Baby by themselves
Wrapped or unwrapped, sleepy or wide-eyed—your baby is perfect just as they are. These solo shots are timeless.

🤍 With mama
There’s nothing quite like the way a mother holds her baby. I always make sure to capture your quiet strength and all the love in your eyes.

🤍 With dad
These are some of the most tender photos. Whether it’s a protective hold or a soft kiss, dads bring something so special to the gallery.

🤍 With siblings (or pets!)
If you have a big brother, sister, or furry family member, they’re part of the story too. These photos are always full of personality.

🤍 Tiny details
Their fingers wrapped around yours. Their feet still curled. These close-up moments are the ones you’ll treasure forever.

What to Wear for Your Newborn or Family Session:
One of the most common questions I get asked is: What should we wear?

The answer is simpler than you think—neutral, soft tones always photograph beautifully. I recently photographed this lovely family, and their wardrobe choices were perfect. Mom wore a soft cream dress, dad kept it simple with light beige pants and a white shirt, big sister was in a classic ivory dress, and baby wore a cozy white onesie. It all came together so effortlessly.

In my studio, I also provide a selection of neutral wraps and simple onesies for your newborn. Whites, beiges, and greys keep the look timeless and clean.

You don’t have to buy anything new unless you want to. I’ll help you pull pieces together from what you already own or plan to purchase, and guide you on what will photograph well.

I serve families in Loudon County and Leesburg, Virginia, and am based in Wi******er, VA. If you’re looking for a relaxed, natural newborn or family photography experience, I’d love to work with you.
