When I revamped Dorothy and Dot, I asked the Lord to make it my ministry. I like to ask for creative things because he made me a creative! Since starting photography i’ve gotten the pleasure to take photos at birthday parties, i’ve taken photos of an overnight construction project, i’ve captured laughter of sweet babies, I’ve simply had the most amazing opportunities. But i’ve also gotten to capture some hard moments.
I hate death. It cuts down to the most vulnerable parts of our hearts and shakes everything within us. I hate death — and God does too. Death entered the world because of sin, not because He wanted it. Death is an enemy of God. So much so that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to make the once-for-all payment for our sins and give us eternal life with Him. In the end, He will wipe away every tear from our eyes, and death shall be no more.
Did you know that God keeps track of our sorrows? In Psalm 56:8 David says “You have collected all my tears in a bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”
I’ve seen and felt lots of grief and sorrow in my community recently. It’s been the kind that feels like an elephant is on your chest when you first hear the news. I’m sure you’ve all felt it, too. Yet, the creator of the galaxies and cosmos- who knows every single hair on your head- also keeps track of your sorrows!
We can rest assured knowing we have a loving God who grieves death with us — so much so that He sent His Son to pay the price to have us back, if we too will choose Him. I can’t imagine a life without Jesus, nor facing loss on this earth without Him. That old hymn, ‘What a Friend We Have in Jesus,’ has been on my heart the past few days. I just think sometimes I need a reminder that our Savior came to earth in the most humble way, and before he (joyfully (Heb. 12:2)) bore our sins on the cross- he too, felt grief to the point of death. Therefore, we don’t have a savior who is unable to feel with us. Let Let Him love you, friends. 💞,
