It all started when a 12 year old nerd with braces first held that tiny fuji film point and shoot camera that she got for Christmas from her parents. From that day on she was hooked. All that little girl wanted to do was take pictures, and of anything and everything in site. Of cats and trees and grass and even her siblings (if they would let her.) She often found herself in the backyard, spread-eagle on the ground, flattening herself as close to the ground as she could and peering through the viewfinder to capture that minuscule droplet of morning dew on a bright green blade of spring grass. This was her happy place. Everything from the perfect click of the shutter to the adjusting and re-adjusting and more re-adjusting of lighting settings to get that perfect shot. Every moment she captured was a perfect one. She was in love. She had an outlet, a thing, a magical thing that defined who she really was. Something she never had before that finally gave her purpose. Before she even it, she was a photographer.
If you haven't already guessed it, that little girl is me. And that little girl is still alive and takes me places I never thought I would go. From the beginning I always said “I’ll never take photos of people, it’s just not my style.” Well here I am, having successfully photographed dozens of seniors, engagement and other couple events, graduations, baptisms, sports, and 5 weddings all by myself. Don't get me wrong, my heart will always belong to nature shots. Its where my passion first took off. But now I am finding myself booking sessions every week and riding the trendy train with all the other up-to-beat photographers of todays age. It’s a wild ride, and I’m loving it.
If you're reading this, you are probably familiar with my work. You probably also know that I am a hot mess. I’m 20 years old (as of this date) I’m living on my own, supporting myself, juggling a 9-6 job and my photography business, and dealing with every other aspect of life in general in between. But one thing remains the same through the mess, I love photography. I love shooting and capturing and everything that goes with it. Where God will take me with this passion, I am not sure yet. I am doing everything I can to find out, trust me. My goal is to one day potentially own my own building where I can plant my business for real and have a place to showcase, sell my work, have a professional office, shoot in a studio, and maybe do a little film and darkroom work! But I am not there yet. Right now I’m just trying to live. Taking it day by day, enjoying it as much as I can as I go, but never loosing site of that goal. I am incredibly blessed and gifted. God is so so so good.
