One of my favorite parts of every session isn’t actually taking the photos…

It’s getting to know the people in front of my camera.

How you met.

How long you’ve been together.

How your toddler keeps everyone on their toes.

What your senior plans to do after graduation.

By the end of the session, I usually feel like I’ve made a few new friends.

Some sessions just refuse to happen… until they’re meant to. 😂

Brettany and I have known each other since we were kids spending our summers together, so I was so excited to finally get her family in front of my camera. She was booked for my Mommy & Me minis this spring, but every single time her session rolled around… Iowa weather had other plans. 🌧️

So we called an audible and waited for summer.

I’d say it was worth it.

Last night gave us one of those dreamy Iowa sunsets, golden light filtering through the trees, and a whole lot of laughs. And while we did manage to sneak in some beautiful family portraits… let’s be honest…

This quickly turned into The Stella Show. 😂 That little smile could light up an entire room, and she had every single one of us wrapped around her finger.

Senior sessions are honestly some of my favorite sessions to photograph because no two are ever the same.

We can keep it simple, split the session into two seasons, show off sports, hobbies, vehicles, livestock, instruments, or whatever makes your senior who they are right now.

These photos should feel like them—not like the exact same senior session everyone else has.

Senior year goes way too fast, so let’s make sure you have more than just a yearbook photo to remember it by.

My very first micro wedding is officially in the books, and I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better one.

One historic courthouse. Their closest people. That’s it.

No elaborate timeline. No rushing from place to place. Just two people completely wrapped up in each other, making it official in one of the most beautiful courthouses I’ve ever photographed.

After they said “I do,” we wandered through the building, taking advantage of every stunning staircase, marble column, and little pocket of light we could find. Then we stepped outside for a few more portraits before the rain picked back up.

Proof that you don’t need an all-day wedding to have beautiful photos or unforgettable memories.

Congratulations, Haleigh & Nick. Thank you for letting me be part of such a sweet, intimate day. ❤️

But fall is coming, and you know what that means…

Fall Mini Sessions are dropping TONIGHT. 🍁

Every year these end up being some of my favorite photos of the entire season. Crisp air (hopefully 😅), cozy outfits, little kiddos running through the leaves, couples laughing, and families getting that one photo Grandma is going to frame before she even gets home.

People ask me all the time why I book so many evening sessions.

Simple.

Have you SEEN an Iowa sunset? 😍

The soft light, the colors, the glow… you just can’t beat it.

Sure, sometimes we’re all sweating and swatting mosquitoes, but then the sun starts doing its thing and suddenly nobody remembers how hot it was.

Totally worth it every single time.
