🌅 Last Friday's sunrise over Squam Lake.
Loved how the early light lit the mountains in the distance — you can pick out Mt. Israel, Mt. Passaconaway, Mt. Whiteface and a few more of the Sandwich Range.

One of my favorite spots — and an easy hike, under 2 miles up to the overlook.

The towns around Squam throw off a lot of light pollution, so the Milky Way here is always a compromise. I keep coming back anyway, hoping one time it'll be darker. It isn't. Can't beat that view though, not a bad way to spend a few hours and watch the sky (I ran a timelapse from around 3 hours).

Harder edit due to the significant light pollution in Bortle 4.

Got caught in a thunderstorm hiking up yesterday and had to scrap the original plan. Once it passed I was about to get this shot.

A quick sunset stop on the way to shoot June's full Strawberry Moon.
Pulled over in the White Mountains for a fast shot — the moon didn't clear Mt. Washington till ~9:25, so I had an hour to go and setup on time.

🌅 Squam Lake at sunrise.

The clouds looked promising this morning but didn't do much at first. Then a few minutes before sunrise the color started to go off — so I ran down to the lake and caught it.

On the way up Mt. Lafayette a few weeks ago, we timed it to hit this viewpoint right at sunset — and it did not disappoint.
Grueling overnight Milky Way hike with , honestly a bit above my hiking level, but the payoff was the core over Franconia Ridge later that night. This was a perfect astro night — great sunset clouds that drifted off right before we got to the summit for the Milky Way shots (one time the forecast actually got it right).

Another one from Chocorua — spotted this on the way up for an astro night hike, saw the sky and knew I had to stop.

Love this little spot: the Narrows Bridge at Chocorua Lake. Its rustic cedar railings copy an early-1900s design, and if you look close at the woodwork you can see how it spells out "NH." One of the most photographed bridges in the state, and easy to see why.

That night I spent a few good hours on West Rattlesnake Mountain — from moonset around 2AM through the Milky Way and on to sunrise around 5:30AM. This was one of my final frames of the night.
