First day of High School for this young man! I am amazed and delighted to watch him learn and grow and chase his dreams. He is playing soccer as a keeper (another sport for me to learn 😂) and has big plans for himself in school. The later start time is a breeze for him (oh, how this would have helped Aiden!) and being ready to roll 45 minutes early allowed us to have a quick photo session this morning to mark the moment. 9th Grade - Go Sunset!! That’s my boy💕😊🎉

Happy Halloween, Friends. Rounding out a cheese-filled month of projects and digging the vibe of this special themed shoot with the beautiful cheeses from my friends at , a tiny creamery near Newport, Oregon. Those who have known me awhile know specialty cheese portraits are where I got my start in professional photography.

These tasty, evocative creations are lovingly made by hand using milk from animals raised on the small farm owned and operated by a mother-daughter team. Delighted I could add more images to Pat and Astraea's image library. We've worked together over the years, creating iconic images of Up In Smoke just prior to its big win at the World Cheese Awards 2013. I think it looks darling in the nest... a little treasure waiting to be unwrapped.
and I joined creative forces on this project, on Friday the 13th, within 12 hours of the mid-month to create this series. It fed my soul to create like this, using props from my portrait studio to create for my first love - cheese photography in such an upleveled way.
Can you spot the eclipse that magically appears in one of the images? Unintentional, but wayyyy cool.

Loved the beautiful, light filled space and the great people who showed up to connect and mingle with other small businesses. It was particularly interesting to see the large aerial image of circa 1960s. Past and future of this beautiful community in one image

📷 It was such fun revisiting my event photography roots to document the first Quarterly Happy Hour with Cedar Mill Business Association hosted at our neighborhood's newest tap house Wildwood Taphouse: Cedar Mill. Their upstairs meeting space is light filled and lovely - a great tap list and cool mural!

The event was well attended by members and guests, filling the space with laughter, mingling, and a deep appreciation for our community's history and future.

So many conversations sparked by the 1960s era aerial photo of hanging in the atrium. The Bales Thriftway (now Target) was brand new at the time and lots of green surrounding it. Check out my latest blog post (link in comments) to read more.

Happy Birthday, Will! Today you are 13 and I am now officially a "mom of teens". I'm not quite sure how that happened, but here we are!

Watching you grow into the fine young man you are becoming has been one of my greatest joys.

Over these last few years, as I've dived deeper into my portrait work, I'm grateful that you've always been a willing subject. These images - taken just a few weeks apart - show a range of your awesome personality which you never fail to bring with you wherever you go 🥰

Starr and her mama... that would be me 🥰 ...yes, she hugs my arm just like that and loves to be held like a baby. It's the sweetest. Her vet records tell me that she and her sister just turned 1 so sharing this series seemed appropriate.

This is my first foray into pet portraiture category for The Portrait Masters awards and accreditation. It's not easy, especially when you're using a remote trigger and self-styling 😂 I was going for a bit of Madonna and Kitty vibe as I wanted to capture our bond and her sweet personality.

Out of the dozens of frames shot, this one had her staring deep into the lens and, while I liked other images of me better, I couldn't resist this gaze. Lillian, her more feline independent sibling on the next two images prefers more traditional pet portraits so we honored that.

We adopted Lillian and Starr (yes, two Rs in honor of Ringo Starr- peace and love) last September as tiny kittens through We couldn't be happier with how they have added to our lives.

It's amazing to think that these cats have known nothing but love in their lives. They bring so much to our family. My regards to the lovely family who fostered these sweeties and newborn kittens. What beautiful service to the world ❤️

It was a wonderful day welcoming my friend to the studio for a headshot and portrait session. Personality filled portraiture is always my goal and Robert certainly brings it to this shoot.

His travels for work selling some mighty fine goat cheese provide opportunities for adventureous spirit to seek out great food, art, natural wonders of the world with friends along the way. We incorporated some vintage suitcases into the shoot to celebrate his Bon Vivant energy. Of course, we got the requisite power shot for LinkedIn, too ☺

Recently, I achieved a long-term goal of first level accreditation with The Portrait Masters International Portrait Awards & Accreditation Program!

Little by little, since January 2019, my work has been judged by top photographers and educators from around the world, earning Bronze awards and points toward professional accreditation.

It seemed like a long process, but I see the progress in my work and get to work with an incredible community of educators and mentors. I have my sights on achieving Master Accreditation by 2024.

Little by little, through care and effort, great things are achieved. I believe we all must .
