Despite a nor’easter off the Atlantic coast with light rain and gusty winds the town of Perryville, Md was able to hold their Liberty Tree planting ceremony on Saturday morning.

Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate this historic occasion.

Special shout out to the town and everyone involved in planning this event and making it a success regardless of the weather.

Long A Coming / Berlin Train Station & Depot

Location : 65 Washington Avenue, Berlin, New Jersey

Built in 1856, this station is the oldest surviving train station in the state of New Jersey.

The Camden and Atlantic Railroad built a rail line in 1853 that ran parallel to the main road between Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Atlantic City, New Jersey. In 1856 was. Hilt for both passengers and freight. In 1867, the station name was changed to Berlin. The station eventually closed in the 1960’s due to declining passenger numbers. The Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines (PRSL) railway company attempted to demolish the station in 1968, but was unsuccessful.

The station was restored in 1994 by the Long-a-Coming Historical Society. The station now serves as the meeting place for the historical society and several other area organizations.

The train line remains in active use for service by Amtrak with service starting at 30th St Station in Philadelphia and Ending in Atlantic City NJ which earned it the nickname “ The Gamblers Express “
