✨ EXCITING NEWS! ✨ We are incredibly excited to announce that Random Ass Photography has been selected as the photographer for Douglas Land Conservancy’s “Under a Wild Sky” event! 📸🤠

This year’s theme is RETRO COWBOY — so you already know this one is right up our alley. Western style, beautiful Douglas County landscapes, a great cause, and photography? Yes, please.

It’s especially meaningful to have the opportunity to photograph an event that supports the preservation of the open spaces and landscapes that make Douglas County, Colorado such an incredible place to call home.

We can’t wait to saddle up, bring the cameras, and capture this night Under a Wild Sky. 🌄

And because someone always asks about the name — Random Ass Photography was inspired by the rescued donkeys (our “random asses”) at The Random Ranch. They’re a constant reminder that our photography is always Photography for a Cause. ❤️

Okay… ONE last sneak before Jillian gets her full gallery. 🤎🌙

This beautiful girl is Jillian, a Class of 2027 senior and 2027 Douglas County Rodeo Queen Attendant, and we had the absolute honor of creating her senior portraits here at The Random Ranch Photography Studio.

Jillian is truly as beautiful a soul as she is in front of the camera, and we absolutely LOVED this session. 🤎

One of our favorite things about it? We photographed from sunset all the way to moonset. 🌅🌙

You can see just how much the look and feel of a session changes as the light changes. Extending your session gives us time to create through that gorgeous golden sunset, into the moodier evening light, and all the way to images like THIS. More time doesn’t just mean more photos—it gives us more opportunities to create something completely different.

And Jillian absolutely ROCKED every minute of it. 🐎✨

Her full gallery is almost ready, and we cannot wait for her to see everything we created!

P.S. That gorgeous dress? It’s part of our personal client closet at The Random Ranch Photography Studio and is available for our photography clients to wear during their sessions. 🤎

Now we REALLY have to stop sharing sneaks and finish her gallery. 😂

🍂 WE ARE OFFICIALLY FULLY BOOKED THROUGH SEPTEMBER! 🍂

We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has filled our calendar this season. ❤️ And with September officially booked, we are now booking October at The Random Ranch Photography Studio!

We currently have just SIX session openings available for October. Once November arrives, our focus shifts to Christmas sessions, so if you’ve been wanting those gorgeous Colorado fall photos, October is the time.

Think golden grasses, hay bales, mountain views, horses, boots, beautiful evening light and all the character of our private Colorado ranch. 🤎

October is perfect for families, best friends, equine sessions, western portraits, couples and those last few seniors who still need photos.

And these don’t have to be stiff, overly posed sessions.

Come love on your family. Bring your best friend. Bring your horse. 🐴 Climb on a hay bale. Laugh. Play. Wander around the ranch.

We’ll photograph the beautiful stuff — including the moments you didn’t know were happening.

🍁 FULLY BOOKED THROUGH SEPTEMBER
📸 ONLY 6 OCTOBER SESSIONS AVAILABLE
🎄 November begins our Christmas season

If fall photos are on your list this year, now is the time to reserve your October date.

❤️ Can you spot the secret heart?

I didn’t even notice it when I took this photo. It wasn’t until I was editing that I saw it—and now I can’t unsee it. 🥹

There’s a tiny, perfectly placed heart hiding in this image, right in the middle of this sweet connection between a girl and her horse. Sometimes the little details you never planned end up being the most special part of a photograph. ❤️🐴

Now I need your vote because I genuinely can’t decide…

BLACK & WHITE 🖤🤍 or COLOR 🤎?

There’s something about the black and white that pulls me straight to their eyes and that connection—but I love the warmth and detail in the color version too.

👇 Which one would you choose? And did you find the heart before I told you there was one?

There’s something special about photographing twin sisters with a horse they love. 🤎

And while editing this series, I realized something about the way I approach my work:

I don’t edit for Instagram. I edit for the wall.

Trends come and go, but when I’m editing, I’m thinking about artwork.

Maybe it’s my interior design background, but I see these photographs printed large, on canvas, beautifully matted and framed — becoming part of a home instead of simply another image in a social media feed.

That’s why I intentionally gave this series a soft, matte, editorial feel. I want to create photographs that still feel like art long after a trend has passed.

I wish I could share every image from this shoot, but this is just a small handful. There are so many I love.

Twin sisters. One horse. Photographs made for more than a screen.

🎡🎠🎟️ WHAT. A. FUN. SESSION. 🎟️🎠🎡

These gorgeous twins had never done a photoshoot together before, and WOW — they absolutely crushed it! 🎪✨📸 They were stunning, full of personality, and seriously SO much fun to work with. 🎠🎡❤️

I photographed these two during an incredible photography workshop in Loveland, Colorado, and it was literally one of the BEST and most fun nights ever! 🎡🎟️🍿🎪✨

The carnival lights 🎡, the energy 🎟️, the outfits 🎠, and these TWO! 🤩📸 Everything came together for such a fun, unforgettable session.

Three edits. Same story. 🤍

Sometimes the smallest moments make the strongest photographs—the quiet glance, the trust, and the connection between horse and rider. Western editorial portraits are about creating timeless images that feel as beautiful years from now as they do today.

Which edit is your favorite? 1, 2, or 3?

Have you ever stumbled across a place that completely surprised you?

That was my experience visiting Salida, Colorado for the first time. I expected a beautiful mountain town, but I wasn’t prepared for the energy, creativity, and happiness that seemed to be around every corner.

From surfboards along the river to colorful murals, funky art, charming storefronts, and endless photo opportunities, Salida felt like a town that celebrates creativity and adventure. Everywhere I looked, there was something worth photographing.

One of my favorite things about photography is discovering places that tell a story, and Salida certainly has a story to tell. It was impossible not to leave inspired.

The best part? Every photo session and print purchased through Random Ass Photography helps support a good cause, making it possible to combine a passion for photography with giving back.

Have you visited Salida? What was your favorite thing to see or do there?

Some girls graduate college… and some do it with a little extra country spirit. 🤠✨

Brittany wanted a senior session that felt authentic to her — western-inspired, confident, and full of personality. From the boots to the setting, every part of this session came together so naturally.

There were definitely a few Miranda Lambert vibes woven into this one, and we were absolutely here for it.

More than anything, we’re just incredibly proud of this young woman and everything she’s accomplished. Watching someone step into a new chapter with this much strength, grace, and determination is always an honor to capture.

We can’t wait to see where life takes you next, Brittany. The future is lucky to have you. 🖤
