I moved to Colorado five years ago, returning to a place that shaped much of my childhood—running the mountains and spending time in Denver with my grandparents. A lifelong Denver Broncos fan 🧡🏈, the mountains and open spaces have always felt like home. I still enjoy picking up a few shifts as a nurse practitioner with UCHealth Urgent Care in Castle Rock and Sterling Ranch, but most days you’ll find me on the road—camping, exploring wild places, and chasing light—with my wife Kayla and our fox red lab, Penny 🐕🌲

🌕 HARVEST MOON OVER LOST CANYON 🌕

There’s just something magical about watching a big old orange full moon slowly rise above the canyon.

Last night, the Harvest Moon put on one heck of a show here at Lost Canyon Ranch—glowing orange on the horizon and lighting up the evening sky as it climbed higher above the canyon.

Sometimes the best photographs aren’t planned. You just look up, grab the camera, and appreciate what Mother Nature decided to put in front of you.

A beautiful Colorado night, a quiet canyon, and one incredible moon. 🌕🏔️

August was one for the wildlife books! 🦉🐏🐻

From the plains of Kansas to Colorado’s Rocky Mountains and the Tetons of Wyoming, August gave me some incredible days behind the camera. Burrowing owls, bighorn sheep, moose, bears—and plenty of moments I was grateful just to witness.

I’ve brought some of my favorite video from those travels together here. Take a few minutes, slow down, and enjoy the wildlife with me. I hope it brings you a little of the peace I felt out there.

A few peaceful minutes with Grizzly 610 and her cub 🐻

We watched 610 and her cub make their way through a grassy meadow in the Tetons. They grazed, dug, and foraged together, finding what they could as they prepare for hibernation.

No rush. Just a mother and her cub going about their day. It was one of the most peaceful stretches of time we spent out there today.

Take a few minutes, turn up the sound, and enjoy this quiet moment with them.

🐻 A MOTHER’S STORY — GRIZZLY 1063 🐻

These photographs of Grizzly Bear 1063 were taken in May 2025, on a cold, drizzly, rainy day in the Tetons.

They were captured just a day after 1063 had been separated from her three cubs. Tragically, two of those cubs were killed by a boar. She would later reunite with her remaining cub for a period of time before the two were separated once again.

Knowing what had happened made watching her that morning feel different. There she was—an absolutely stunning grizzly—moving through the fresh spring landscape of the Tetons, doing what bears have done here for generations: surviving.

Wildlife can be beautiful, but nature can also be incredibly harsh. That’s part of what makes witnessing these animals in the wild such a privilege.

I’ll never get tired of springtime in the Tetons. Snow still hanging on the peaks, the landscape coming back to life, and grizzlies once again roaming the valleys. There’s simply no place quite like it.

Grizzly 1063. Beautiful. Wild. Resilient. 🐻🏔️
