The Dogwood Collective, at its core, was created out of desperation, by a woman who was secretly suffering from anxiety. Its roots stem from the feeling that she was stuck in an enclosure in which the walls slowly began to collapse, to the point that the only thing she could focus on was the eerie realization that one day she would no longer exist in the physical world. Everything faded to black.

Then, in the midst of the darkness, a shade of white appeared, in the form of a bloom. A bloom that reminded her of home; of warmth and slowness. A dogwood flower. It provoked her, and caused her to step forward, through the darkness. Each step brought another wave of calming desire. A desire to never take a breath for granted. To chase the wind and follow her hearts desires.

I had the sweetest family maternity session in .house a few weeks ago! Big brother felt like a paid actor, because his chaos was absolutely adorable.

So parents, if you are nervous about your kids behavior at a session, just let them be shy or wild or lovey in the ways that feel natural to them. That is what makes the session turn out better than you could ever expect.

You’ll have many years for photographs where everyone is smiling at the camera, but these chaotic days don’t last nearly long enough!

Sometimes I forget how cool 2019 Kristi was. (Not cool in an actual cool way.. more like cool in a ““making her dreams come true with her “if they can do it; I can do it” attitude”” way.)

I was one year in to my “trying to start a business” era with absolutely no experience in business or photography, and in 2019 fashion, people I leaned to most gossiped about how I couldn’t do it, and that’s exactly when I knew I already was. (Shout out to all the strangers on the internet who cheered me on tho!!)

I traveled across the states and across the world to take pictures, because people trusted my ability to notice beauty, connection and emotion.

Now it’s 2026, and I’m still doing it. How lucky am I!

Today was spent reminiscing on the 11 day car-camping trip I took to Scotland back in 2019. Some of it was tough- all of it was beautiful. And I re-edited some of the sessions I had during the trip as proof to myself that yes, I was there. 🫶🏼

I need to go back soon and re-write some of the memories and witness it all again.

Also- these colors make me miss my Mark iv.
