One summer day, I was wandering through a prairie when something made me stop and look twice.

Queen Anne’s Lace is one of those wildflowers I’ve seen countless times—those familiar white, lacy blooms scattered along roadsides and across fields. But this one was different. It was pink.

Pink Queen Anne’s Lace is a rare find, and tucked among the prairie grasses, its soft blush color and delicate details felt like one of those little surprises nature leaves for you when you’re paying attention.

Of course, I had to photograph it. 😊

I think that’s one of the things I love most about being out with my camera. You can walk through a place you think you know and suddenly discover something you’ve never seen before.

Have you ever come across pink Queen Anne’s Lace?

Late afternoon along the Million Dollar Highway the peak shifted from warm gold into deeper rust and the sky softened to a muted blue. Ochre slopes streaked with pale scree and patches of lingering snow drop into ragged ridgelines and a dense band of evergreens, the dark forest broken by rocky clearings and scattered saplings. There’s a steady, measured energy here: broad plains of color balancing sharp ridges and shadowed hollows, a quiet drama that invites a slower look. Prairie Fire Blossom shows a single Indian paintbrush standing tall against a warm, colorful meadow from Woods Prairie in Missouri. The dark orange to orange-red petals had a quick, lively motion in the breeze when I saw them, and I made this piece to share that one clear moment. These wildflowers have become a favorite of mine, and I seek them out each year. I hope it brings a splash of color and a small, everyday lift to your wall. On a winter hike at Big Sugar Creek State Park I was looking for something with color and found a turkey fan tucked into the bark. Warm russets and pale creams sit next to a bright green patch of moss, and the layered shapes felt quietly strong. I like how it reads up close — simple patterns and subtle contrasts that draw you in without shouting. Colors of the Canyon -- There’s something about walking into a slot canyon that makes you wonder what might be waiting around the next bend.

I spent several hours exploring Antelope Canyon X, wandering through narrow passageways where every turn seemed to reveal something completely different. The sandstone twisted and curved around me, glowing in shades of red, orange and purple as the light shifted overhead.

This spot made me stop.

High above was just a small opening to the sky, but it was enough. Sunlight slipped through and found its way down into the canyon, lighting up the sandstone and bringing out colors that had been hidden in the shadows just moments before.

Places like this are such a good reminder of why I love exploring with my camera. You slow down. You look closer. And suddenly you start seeing all those little things you might have walked right past.

Nature has been working on this masterpiece for thousands of years. I was pretty happy just to stand there for a little while and take it all in.

On a walk at Talbot Conservation Area I noticed a patch of yellow wildflowers reaching toward the sun. I wanted the scene to feel both intimate and airy, with close-up blooms glowing backlit against a clear blue sky and slender stems that lead the eye upward. It shows the flowers in a way that highlights detail while still letting the surrounding landscape breathe. While exploring the Colorado mountains near Ridgeway and Telluride, I found a view where golden autumn foliage met snow-capped peaks. A rustic split rail fence curves through the meadow, guiding the eye while low, brooding clouds add weight and depth to the scene. I wanted to share that moment, the warm fields against cool ridgelines and the quiet drama of a place that feels both settled and alive.
