This stretch of Interstate 40 will never just be a road again.

When Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina, it didn’t just flood rivers,it changed lives, destroyed homes, and altered the environment forever.

Mountains gave way. Roads collapsed. Communities were cut off in a matter of hours.

But in the aftermath, something powerful rose up.

Crews from all over, like the men and women of Keller North America, stepped into the mud, the wreckage, and the impossible… and got to work.

Here’s an update of the rebuild of I40 and some of the incredible crews out there putting in the work.

When Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina in September 2024, it ripped apart the backbone of the mountains.

• Nearly 12 miles of Interstate 40 were washed out or heavily damaged through the Pigeon River Gorge. 
• Across the state, about 5,000 miles of roads and hundreds of bridges were damaged. 
• The rebuild of I-40 alone is now expected to cost close to $2 billion, making it one of the largest highway repair projects in North Carolina history. 

I spent the day with engineers, operators, and crews doing the impossible in one of the most challenging terrains in the country stabilizing mountainsides, rebuilding highways, and reconnecting communities.

The weather is warming up, flowers will soon be in full bloom… and that means senior sessions are COMING!

But here’s the thing, we wouldn’t be Good Human Productions if we didn’t intentionally seek out and celebrate the good within our community.

This year, we want to highlight three kinds of seniors:

• High school seniors

• College seniors

• Senior citizens

While we are officially booking senior sessions, we are also giving away two complimentary sessions.

✨ One free session for a deserving high school or college senior.

✨ One free session for a senior citizen whose story reflects grit, resilience, life, and legacy.

Include their name and a brief explanation of why they should be selected.

Nominees must be local to Haywood County.

We can’t wait to learn more about the incredible humans who make this community so special.

This is it.

This is the shoot that wasn’t planned.

These were the strangers that had just eloped and hiked up the mountain with their tripod and cell phone, and as I was walking down the mountain from finishing a photo shoot I noticed and simply offered to take a few photos for free, and the rest is history.

We’ve captured this beautiful moment for generations to come, and I’ll forever hold this memory near and dear as it’s such an important piece of my company.

The actual Human and heart behind Good Human Productions. Hey there, I’m Amber K.

I’m a mom of 5 by day, and a professional videographer by weekend, and it’s thanks to amazing folks who give me the opportunity to capture their stories and bring the magic of their special events to life.

Before Covid, I worked many years on camera, but when the world shut down and I took some time to reflect, I wanted more time with my children, freedom from endless hours on set, and an opportunity to use my passion to make a difference in the world, and alas, 5 years later, God has flourished Good Human Productions. Now, I spend my days behind the camera telling your stories, stopping time for just a brief moment. And I’ve made so many amazing friends along the way.

But the most beautiful part, lives have been changed, needs have been met, desolate villages in Africa have received aid, all because of you who said yes to Good Human Productions.
