In July 2025, Lane bought a ring.
For nearly a year, he kept one very important secret while quietly planning the perfect proposal—with a little help from Amelia’s mom, sister, best friend, and a few other co-conspirators along the way.
After recently driving across the country from Tennessee to spend the summer back in California with family and friends, these two found themselves in Tahoe for what Amelia thought was just another evening.
Instead, Lane was waiting at the end of the dock.
What followed was everything I love about proposals: happy tears, nervous laughter, giant hugs, and one very easy “yes.”
And in true Tahoe fashion, the weather gave us a little bit of everything—sunshine, dramatic clouds, and even a few raindrops. Somehow it made the whole evening even more magical.
The surprises weren’t over yet, either. After the proposal, family and friends were waiting back in Colfax for a secret engagement celebration.
Also, when I texted Lane while editing these photos, I told him it felt like I was editing an early-2000s Abercrombie catalog… and honestly, I stand by that statement.
