BUSINESS UPDATE — OUTLAW STUDIOS 🤠📸
This is a long one, but there are some much needed changes I need to address moving forward.
Starting next year, I’ll be implementing new contracts, updated policies AND new pricing for OutLaw Studios. I’m completely booked for the rest of this year, but these changes will apply to all new bookings going forward.
I’ve had WAYYYY too many cancellations and reschedules lately, and unfortunately, it has started to affect my business tremendously. I’ve tried being overly flexible and understanding, but at this point, I have to start treating this like the business that it is.
Moving forward:
• A 50% non-refundable deposit will be required upfront to book your session.
• You’ll be allowed ONE reschedule with at least 3 days’ notice at no additional charge. (This doesn’t include a weather reschedule or if I have a 1 personal reschedule)
• Any additional reschedules will have a $50 rescheduling fee.
• Cancellations of your session will forfeit your deposit.
• Same-day (within 24hr notice) cancellations will forfeit the full session payment if you have already paid in full.
• I’ll also be more selective about rebooking clients who repeatedly cancel last minute or reschedule last minute.
I’ll also be increasing my prices next year. I’ve been operating at my beginner pricing while building my portfolio and experience. And as OutLaw Studios continues to grow, my pricing needs to reflect the time, work, equipment, editing and experience that goes into each session. I will still try to stay affordable but I also have to make it worth my time as well.
I’ve always tried to be understanding and work with everyone because I don’t want to be the photographer who makes people feel like they can’t come to me. But I also can’t continue allowing other people’s scheduling changes to negatively affect my income, my time and the other clients who could have taken and want those spots.
If I’m being completely honest (y’all know me I will tell it like it is), this has been really challenging and very discouraging lately. I’ve had multiple situations back-to-back-to-back with multiple clients where sessions have been canceled or pushed around, and it has gotten to the point where I’ve genuinely debated on whether I even want to continue photography next year. My husband and I have been having a lot of these talks lately…😭
I don’t want to quit photography. I love what I do, I love creating with you guys, and I’m proud of how far OutLaw Studios has come from no photography background. But I also have to make sure that the time and effort I’m putting into this is actually beneficial to me and my business.
And if you’re reading this thinking “Oh no, she’s making this post because of me” - PLEASE don’t. I’m genuinely not kidding when I say this has been back-to-back-to-back with so many clients lately. This post is not directed at one specific person or situation. It’s something I’ve been dealing with repeatedly, and I’ve just finally reached a breaking point to where I need to make an announcement and a change for my business as a whole.
So moving forward, I’m going to be a little more strict. I have to stop trying to be everyone’s friend and start running OutLaw Studios like a business.
Again PLEASE don’t take these changes personally. They aren’t meant to target anyone specifically. They’re simply boundaries I need to put in place to protect my time, my income and my business.
I’m hoping these changes help create a better experience for everyone and allow me to continue doing what I love without constantly feeling like I’m losing out.
Let’s all do better going forward. 🖤
Thank you to everyone who has supported OutLaw Studios, and I hope to hang in there for you guys!
