The story behind lupines, particularly in Maine, is tied to a fictional character in a children’s book, “Miss Rumphius”, and a real life lady, Hilda Edward’s Hamlin. In the book, Miss Rumphius is charged by her grandfather to make the world more beautiful, and she does so by scattering lupine seeds throughout Maine. ☀️ I’d say Hilda succeeded.
