So Many Hats 🎓⛳

We ask a lot of him.

Be a great student. Stay healthy. Be accountable. Manage your time. Show up — fully — for every activity, every commitment, every room you walk into.

And somehow… he continues to work…

4.0 GPA. Too many activities to count. And still showing up with energy, heart, and that smile that lets me know he’s okay.

This year is different though. This year, the grind gets real on the course. Up until now, golf has been his escape — a place to breathe, find joy, and just be. But competitive golf is a whole different animal, and watching him step into that challenge is something I wasn’t prepared to feel this deeply.

A couple years ago, I honestly thought competitive golf was still years away for him. Then came Excel Golf Academy.

For years, they’ve been out in PG County working with the kings and queens of our community — not just teaching golf, not just preparing kids for school, but preparing them for life. Coach Pua, Coach Sandy, Jarius, and Jamal have built something that is more than a program. It’s a family on the course. And that family wrapped around my son before I even knew how much he needed it.

And then there’s The Lab 301 — a space where he found practice, found community, and learned what it looks like when grown people move through a room with respect, honor, and a deep love for the game. That environment shaped him in ways I couldn’t have scripted.

This isn’t just my wife and me anymore.

This is a village.

I don’t know how every round will go. That’s the beauty of the game — nobody does.

But I know this: when he walks off that course smiling, nothing else matters.

Every hat he wears. Every hand that helped place one on his head.

That’s why this moment means everything.

Proud doesn’t even cover it. 🖤⛳

Some pictures don’t just live on a wall. They live in you.
This image was made at the National Arboretum in Washington DC — part of a Juneteenth project with The Dojo Studios and Royal Exposure, sponsored by Ogilvy, built around one simple but radical idea: What stories do YOU want to tell?

We didn’t come to photograph kings and queens. We came to hand them the power to photograph themselves.

Through our workshop, we taught the fundamentals — light, composition, storytelling. But the most important lesson wasn’t technical. It was this: your story matters, and you have the right to tell it.

When we asked DaChaun what story he wanted to tell, he didn’t hesitate. He wanted to honor the people who crossed an ocean to build a foundation for a country they would never fully be allowed to call their own.

And then he did something that stopped all of us.

He found the spot. He found the light. He found the frame. He told us why we needed to move from where we were standing and go somewhere that better told his story.

The pillars — the same columns that stood outside the DC State Building when the Emancipation Proclamation was read aloud. The setting sun. The water separating subject from viewer, echoing the passage that brought our people here. DaChaun saw all of that. We just had the privilege of watching.

And then the most powerful thing happened. He didn’t step behind the camera himself. He tapped one of the younger kings beside him and said, you tell it. He gave his vision to the next one.
That’s not photography. That’s legacy.

This is what happens when you trust people with their own story. When community stops being a word and starts being a practice. When the strangers are community..

We didn’t give DaChaun a voice. He already had one. We turned up the volume.

The Book can we found at

The best creative work doesn’t feel like work.

That’s not an accident — it’s a byproduct of the right partnerships.

As a creative director and visual producer, my job starts long before anyone picks up a camera. It’s about assembling teams of creatives who are genuinely invested in the outcome. People who treat every project like it’s their name on it too. When you get that right, the hours

disappear and the work speaks for itself.
That’s been the experience working with Marissa Sams Events — from New York City to Washington D.C. to Charleston, South Carolina. Rooms with weight. Venues with character. Events built with intention elegance and grace. Events designed and produced from the ground up by professionals who understand that how something looks, feels and flows is part of how it lands.

For leaders who care about the full picture — the imagery you walk away with should match the standard of the event you just built.

In 2026, I’m expanding those partnerships. If you’re producing experiences worth remembering, let’s talk about capturing them the right way.

When Art Meets Community, Everybody Wins.

I’ve worked with in the studio and on location — capturing the essence of a producer, musician, and creative whose work speaks volumes. So when Did I Earn Your Sunset, his one-person play, won Best Musical at the 2nd Annual Flanner Fringe Lab, it hit different. But not surprising.

There’s a question I come back to often: Are we creating for commerce, or does our art drive the commerce?

When the art is great, commerce follows. But what I’ve learned through my own creative journey — behind the lens and beyond it — is that the real fuel is community. The energy. The vibration. The people around you who push you to go further.

My best creative output doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when I’m surrounded by people who are also building, also pushing, also telling stories that need to be told. Watching your community excel isn’t just inspiring — it feeds directly into the work.

As a visual storyteller, I don’t just document moments. I document journeys. And this is one I’m proud to have a front-row seat to.
More output. More art. More community. The best is ahead.

“Oh that’s Nyla”
_ x x .shot

A couple weeks ago, my son assisted me on a shoot with Nyla Brooks - UNC basketball player, hometown Queen, someone who grew up where he’s growing up.

This weekend, he watched her drop a career-high 21 points. His reaction?

‘Oh. That’s Nyla.’

Not ‘wow’ or ‘that’s amazing’ - just the kind of familiarity you have with someone you’ve met. Someone who shared her story beyond the uniform. Someone who became real.

That’s what it looks like when a young person sees themselves in someone’s excellence - not as spectacle, but as possibility that feels close enough to touch

I use to be a kid that wore 23 and dreamed of going to UNC.

Now my son has heros showing him the same things are possible….

Thanks ._

Most days me and Big Germ are on the course trying to shave strokes…

From fairways to bottoms of bourbon’s…— G pulled up for some new studio portraits.

Golf taught us timing.
Photography taught us framing.
Big Germ came in with both.

Same chemistry, different clubhouse.

Big Germ really said “driver, wedge, headshot.”

The future of women’s hoops is bright!

Nyla Brooks came through the studio and left with two new fans.

From McDonald’s All-American to Jordan Brand Classic, to being named Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year, Nyla didn’t just arrive at UNC — she arrived as an elite recruit, ESPN #13 overall, Class of 2025.

Nyla trusted her journey and chose Carolina — and now she’s bringing that same confidence, work ethic, and star energy to Chapel Hill.

This is what the next generation of women’s basketball looks like.
And we’re honored to witness it up close. 💙

Certain things never get old to photograph — love is one of them, and your people are another.

We spent the afternoon moving through New York City, from the skyline views to the floating gardens, and it reminded me why I love what I do. Moments like these become legacy.

One day, my homies grandkids will look back at these photos and see just how fly their grandparents were… how beautiful their grandmother is… how cool grandpa is.

Images live forever — and so does love.
