My favorite day of picture taking happened in July.
I left the house before sunrise, rode the bike to the beach (on vacation) and saw 2 deer on my way. When arriving at the beach I saw an amazing sunrise and turtle tracks. Of course, I checked them out to see if it was a successful crawl that ended in the turtle laying eggs and was so excited when I saw the nest.
When I continued on, I saw a pair of nesting American Oystercatchers.
All of the sudden I heard another photographer yell 'Did you see the sea turtle? Grab your bike.'
And there she was, the big Loggerhead Sea Turtle that laid the nest I just looked at a few minutes before got stranded on a sandbar. Thankfully the Seabrook Island Turtle Patrol was already checking the beach to check on nests and watched the sea turtle for some time before they decided to intervene and help the turtle back into the water. She was just too exhausted from laying eggs, and the tide was still exiting. (Pictures in opposite order.)
I continued on to see dolphins strand feed and ended my day with a Roseate Spoonbill fly over.
Needless to say, that this was an unforgettable morning and I was so excited to be at the right place at the right time. 🐢🐬❤
