My birthday present to myself...
Tuesday I spent 9 hours driving down to Melbourne Beach, FL to meet up with my friend Nathan. From his place, we loaded up his boat and drove 45 minutes to a boat ramp. We then embarked on a 20 minute or so boat ride to a small island just a few miles from the launch pad where the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was set to launch. At 4:28am we had liftoff. All the time involved in getting to that location for about a minute or so of viewing and photographing was so worth it. Thanks Nate! Now for that 9 hour drive home... Till the next time...

Been on a photography rut for a while but spending the weekend camping at Road Atlanta for the Motul Petit Le Mans got me back behind the camera. I have a few thousand photos and some video to go through but here's a sneak peak.

Left the house at 3am this morning and drove out to Watkinsville to photograph Comet Neowise. The skies weren't quite as clear as I would have preferred but I was the only one there and seeing the comet in my binoculars was amazing. Neowise is 3 miles wide and 64 million miles away from Earth.
The first image was at 5:17am. The second was at 5:42am.
