How I use flat lays to start the visual storytelling of your day✨

Can you image if a book just abruptly started? No introduction to the main characters? No scene description for us to create a visual with?

Weddings are the same way. To properly tell your story, we need to set the tone of the rest of the day. Flat lays are the establishing first paragraphs for the story of your wedding day.

Chic factory wedding? Use harsh window light to give an editorial feel. Surrounding the bride’s details with her favorite florals from the arrangements for the day. Making sure to capture all the textures

Intimate Manhattan penthouse wedding? Let the custom invitation suite be the star of the show. Surround it with dried petals, wax seals, and stamps on a warm and inviting backdrop. Use even, natural lighting to match the feel of the images that will come from the window filled ceremony space.

Coastal barn wedding with a garden party feel? Use distressed wood as the backdrop - drawing into the coastal theme in a subtle but elegant way. Use the bride’s bouquet as a touch of color to the side. Incorporating the colorful bouquet in some way was a must. The reception was filled with gorgeous arrangements designed by the bride herself.

Your wedding day. Remember it?

As the years go by - all of the details will slowly fade from your mind. Someone will mention a moment and you’ll find yourself saying “wow, I completely forgot that” and silently thinking “wow, how did I forget that?”

But how do you keep such precious moments from fading?

Anyone can take pretty pictures.

What you need is a story teller.

Someone who understands that you have to include all of the senses to be able to relive these moments.

The sight of white hydrangeas outside the reception starting to be dabbled in pink. Your favorite sign of late Summer.

The taste of salt on your lips as you read your vows to each other by the ocean.

The sound of friends new and old connecting during cocktail hour while sipping your puppy (first child) themed signature cocktails.

The scent of your signature Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume filling the getting ready space as you’re surrounded by your favorite girlfriends.

Your husband’s gentle touch on your lower back as you greeted your guests. He still feels like home.

All of these little details. All of these little moments.

The final step : perfectly curating them.

Years will pass. It’ll be a rainy and lazy Tuesday. You’ll grab your wedding album off the coffee table and cozy into your husband. You flip through the pages.

Sight. Smell. Touch. Sound. Taste.

Every page is met with “look at the beautiful story of our perfect wedding day.” Butterflies flood you as you’re reminded of every little detail and moment of one of the best days of your life.

You don’t need a photographer.
