Photography for me started when I was in 1st grade. My grandmother and I took a breathtaking picture of a sunrise and later entered it into an art contest. I placed 1st and was so proud!

As I grew older and began to lose the people and things that meant the most to me, I learned that a photograph captures the moments that we can cherish forever. As my son began to grow and was no longer the tiny baby faced bundle of joy I once held in my arms, I really cherished his baby pictures. To this day I look at his baby pictures daily in a slideshow screensaver on my TV.

My favorite photos aren’t the ones that are staged or awkward, they are the real life photos where I was behind the camera at the perfect time and seen the true beauty of the moment when people were just being who they are.

I have taken so many photos (my phone itself is beyond full) and each picture has told a story that is important. A milestone of one of my children’s lives, a beautiful summer day with the most imperfect flower or just my dog laying around, doing what she loves are all my focus.

I don’t need a fancy camera to take an amazing photo, sometimes my phone captures all of the story that I need. My camera is just a tool to help me achieve a different angle or lighting. Anyone can point and shoot a photograph, but an artist can choose what story that photograph tells.
