One of my favorite things about photography is that my “office” is occasionally a mountain, a waterfall, a beach, the middle of the woods, or some random dirt road I convinced everyone was definitely worth driving down.

I LOVE that photography gives me an excuse to travel, explore new places, and I bring my camera everywhere I go. I am ALWAYS down for an adventure, especially if it ends with really cool photos.

So this is my official request that you hire me to photograph you somewhere cool. Take me to the coast. Take me up a mountain. Take me across the country. Take me out of the country. Make me get on a plane for your wedding. I will not complain.

Basically: you pick the cool place, I’ll bring the camera.

So… where are we going??

Marisa and Austin got married at The Benson in downtown Portland, and I seriously loved everything about this day. Marisa absolutely KILLED the styling, they got married in their hotel room, and then we basically spent the rest of the day wandering around Portland, taking photos, eating good food, and hanging out. Truly my kind of wedding.

We got Salt & Straw, had dinner at Top Burmese (where they surprised them with the sweetest little cake 🥹), and ended the night at R&R Bar, where Marisa and Austin had their very first date.

Small weddings have such a special place in my heart because there’s TIME. Time to wander around, stop for ice cream, take a million photos, actually hang out together, and just enjoy the day without feeling like you have to rush to the next thing.

And getting to do all of that with some of my favorite people made it even better.

Happy World Photography Day!

Some people carry diaries, I carry a camera. I’ve always loved documenting the world around me, and what a gift it is to have a way to hold onto the people, places, and moments that matter to me. I feel really lucky that this is the art I get to make.

Marisa + Austin

Getting to photograph a wedding is always special, but getting to photograph AND officiate AND it’s all for an amazing friend’s weddings?! (I’m not crying, you are)

Marisa and Austin got married right in their hotel room at The Benson, and I got the very unique honor of being the person behind the camera and the person who actually married them.

Also, obviously, I have to talk about how freaking beautiful Marisa looked. I mean LOOK AT HER. She’s always been and icon, but the way she styled her wedding look was immaculate!

The light coming in through the window behind them during this very private ceremony made the whole room feel so warm and intimate and set the mood perfectly.

It was small, personal, a little unconventional, and completely perfect for them. I’m just so happy I got to be there for it, both as their friend and as their photographer.

Some people keep a diary, I carry a camera. 📸

I think one of the biggest gifts photography has given me is this really beautiful excuse to pay attention to my own life. I bring my camera pretty much everywhere, so over the years I’ve collected photos of the big things, of course, but also thousands of little moments that probably wouldn’t mean much to anyone else.

The light getting really pretty for a few minutes, a cat I met on the other side of the world, a rainbow we pulled over to look at, people I love laughing, kids running barefoot through the sand, a dance floor getting a little out of control… just life happening around me.

I love that photography lets me keep a little piece of all of it. There’s something really special about looking back and remembering not only what something looked like, but what that chapter of life felt like.

So I’ll keep bringing my camera everywhere, stopping for pretty light, taking way too many pictures, and occasionally forgetting to check my email because something beautiful was happening in front of me.

What a gift it is to get to document a life while you’re busy living it.

I had way too much fun wandering around the Morton Arboretum with these two.

Seriously… every time we turned a corner there was another spot that made me stop and go, “Okay, wait. Right here.”

I don’t think I said “this spot is so pretty” enough times. 😂

Abby & Martin got the most gorgeous weather for their ceremony at the Morton Arboretum, and we spent portrait time just wandering around finding one beautiful spot after another.

They had a smaller wedding party, an amazing group of people around them, and so many moments that just felt fun. Happy tears, bear hugs, running across the lawn for photos… exactly the kind of wedding day I love getting to photograph.

Congrats again, you two.

This day seriously had everything.

We started the morning with rain, crossed our fingers for the weather to cooperate, and then ended up with sunshine AND one of the prettiest sunsets. Oregon/Washington weather really likes to keep us on our toes.

The reception was exactly what you’d hope for—good food, cake, a packed dance floor, lots of laughing, and getting to spend time with people we don’t get to see nearly enough.

Family weddings are always my favorite because they double as family reunions, and this one was no exception. I feel so lucky that I got to celebrate alongside everyone while also preserving these memories for Sam and Ben.

Now excuse me while I continue obsessing over these sunset portraits.

After 10+ YEARS together, Sam and Ben finally got to say their vows to one another. They did it privately, before the ceremony, and we all were in (happy) tears by the end.

I’ve said it before, but getting invited into moments like this is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. Just the two of them (and me) getting to soak in the fact that after a whole decade together… this day was finally here.

I’ve known Sam my whole life (she is my cousin after all) and our family is the kind that turns every wedding into the world’s best family reunion. Being able to celebrate these two, not just as family, but as the person trusted to document it all, never gets old.

Congratulations, you two. I love you both so much, and I’m so happy I got to witness this part of your story.

Before the ceremony, there are hundreds of little moments happening all at once.

These photos are more than pretty details, they’re the beginning of your wedding story!

Everyone remembers the ceremony. I love remembering everything that happened before it. The tiny details, the private moments of excitement, and all the people helping make the day happen!

Weddings are full of helping hands. Tiny gestures that probably don’t seem important in the moment, but become some of the memories you’ll treasure most.

I learned about a special kind of brush to clean off any hairs or unwanted particles from a suit!

There’s something special about watching someone become the version of themselves they’ve been waiting to be all day.

Two different rooms. The exact same kind of love. The people who know you best quietly helping you get ready for one of the biggest moments of your life.

I don’t think parents ever really stop taking care of us. It’s always a joy to watch these sweet moments between parents and their children.

Something about a black and white bridal shot 👌🏻

Making sure it’s perfect (putting on boutonnières is harder than it looks!)

He is so ready to see his bride!

Look at her!! So beautiful and a vintage dress too!

Watching the last of the morning rain fall, knowing the sun is sure to come out soon (it did)

Here she comes! A dramatic staircase was absolutely not going to go to waste.

Okay I’m a huge sucker for a ring shot!

Look how beautiful their stationary
