Too often, I hear things like:
โWe typically just give up.โ
โI drink after this.โ
โWe yell at each other.โ
HIRE. THE. PHOTOGRAPHER. ๐๐ผ
I wish I could control the weather, the lighting, animal temperament, the flies, the mud, the wind, or every other variable that comes with photographing livestock. Unfortunately, I canโt.
But I can do everything in my power to capture every good angle, every well-represented side, and every image that makes you proud of the stock youโve worked so hard to raise.
Yes, sometimes on picture day we wish they were just a little more dialed in. Sometimes we wish they looked as good standing still as they did walking by. Sometimes we wish the setup was a little more ideal for that clean, eye-popping image.
But thatโs exactly why you hire someone.
What could have been 277 cell phone picture attempts of just one animal, a whole lot of frustration, and everyone questioning their life choicesโฆ can sometimes be narrowed down to a few solid images.
And one of my favorite parts? I can often step in, help evaluate the stock, make adjustments, and let clients see RAW previews on camera in real time. It gives you another set of eyesโand sometimes that little bit of perspective makes all the difference.
I also know thereโs often a belief that hiring a photographer is simply unaffordable.
And honestly? For some, it may be.
But the market is full of incredibly talented photographers who are willing to work with producers in different waysโyou just need to connect.
So before you spend an entire afternoon yelling at your livestock, your kids, your spouse, your camera rollโฆ
