My old boy Jack was the model for this post.

This is Jack-he is a good example of how beautiful an older double-coated dog can be. He is 13 years old, and has a very full coat. It requires frequent brushing and full groomings 3-4 times per year to maintain his beautiful, healthy coat. Many times people choose to have their double-coated dogs clipped down be make the maintenance easier. This is really not the best option for them unless they are very elderly and can't tolerate brushing and grooming. Regular brushing and grooming instead will maintain the integrity and beauty of these coats, and they will be cooler as well.

We had another great weekend showing. Baby Autumn, from my Haley/Mardi litter just turned 6 months old, this was her first show in the real AKC classes, and she was Reserve winners yesterday and Best of Winners today for her first two points! Autumn is co-owned and shown by Emily Swenson, who also showed Nova to a two-point win today! And Brix was Best of Opposite yesterday and Best of Breed today, shown by Lily Manny. She only needs one more point to finish her Grand Championship. Also, Janet Derepentigny was there with her pretty girl Freya, who was reserve winners bitch today.

It’s always so nice when my puppies come back to me for grooming! Today Sheala visited. She’s Nova‘s half sister.

Wally, from my Haley and Mardi litter, came to visit for a grooming experience today. What a gorgeous boy! He is already bigger than Haley! He will be six months old this week. He has a great life with his new family.

We had a great day at the AKC dog show in Greenfield MA. It was Haley‘s first time back in the ring after having her puppies in February. She went best of breed over some very nice competition! Nova was winner‘s dog for his second point, and baby Autumn won the Herding group for beginner puppies!  Emily Swenson did an amazing job showing as usual, even though she just got home from a long trip last night. I was her assistant!

Sorry to make it all about Nova, but he thinks he has found his purpose…. Spa day! He can’t get enough of grooming. It’s a good thing because he has a lot of hair.
