The Varied Bunting (red) and the Blue Waxbill were photographed in this perfect little bird hide at our first camp. Unfortunately, this week some elephants broke down the electric fence and came into camp, destroying the bird hide, fencing and several bushes, trees and plants before moving on to the staff quarters and damaging their water tank! The wild is WILD!

🥰 Hyenas 🥰. I never thought they would be one of my favorites from Africa. Some people call the one of the "Ugly Five" of South Africa but I think they photograph Beautifuly! What do you think?

🐦 Bird Day Wednesday: The Loud & Proud Blacksmith Lapwing 🐦
I love the Lapwings for their long legs. They stomp through the sand and water looking for insects while they make their name-sake screeching that sounds like a blacksmith hard at work!

I CANNOT see a warthog in the wild, or even a photograph of a warthog without singing "When I was a you WART HOOOOOOOOOOG". 🤣
This fella was wandering around on his own late afternoon looking for snacks. They are very skittish and shy so I only got the one photo, but I was just THRILLED to even have seen one!
