I recently had the opportunity to photograph a remarkable middle school student who is pursuing her passion for both flute and piano.

These portraits were created to support her upcoming competition submissions and reflect the dedication, personality, and love of music that make her story so special.

Behind every performance are hours of practice, perseverance, and passion — and it was inspiring to capture these photos as she prepares to continue growing as a musician and competitor.

Our goal for this session was to create images that felt natural, polished, and confident while celebrating who she is right now: a young musician working hard to pursue what she loves.

Wishing her all the best in her upcoming competitions — I cannot wait to see where her love of flute and piano takes her.

One of the most technically challenging lighting conditions to photograph under is dappled light - where sunlight and shadows are cast across the subject matter being photographed.

People often think photographing on a bright sunny day is ideal. And it can be. When it is done correctly. But it can also pose many technical challenges.

Dappled light, in particular, is lighting that is not very flattering for a real estate listing. So, we challenged our exiting team to take some images captured on a bright sunny day and to not only remove all the shadows, but to also render the images as if photographed during twilight.

Nicely maintained and well cared for rustic cabin nestled on some property out in Welches, OR with a hot tub, cozy fire pit, and numerous outdoor seating areas.

This property is a vacation rental where the owner contacted me directly asking for some updated photos to enhance his rental listing.

With 5 bedrooms this rental property is in high demand and is perfect for larger family gatherings. Or get a bunch of friends together and plan the perfect ski vacation with Timberline and Meadows just a short drive away.

Each year I donate at least one family portrait session to local public and private schools to aid in their fundraising efforts. It is a popular auction item that is frequently requested.

This year’s recipient of one of our auctioned family portrait sessions is a family who has been very involved in the PTA at my daughter’s school and it was an absolute honor to have the opportunity to photograph their family.

Thank you to everyone who donates their time, resources, and money to enhancing the education experience of our younger generation. It truly makes a difference especially during a time of so many budget cuts and restrictions.

When the moving Pod is placed directly in front of the house, I just use it for a different perspective for the front exterior photos. And, through the use of creative angles and compositions, none of the photos I capture will include the Pod.

I don’t see problems. I only see solutions. Let’s find a creative solution for your real estate listing.

Portland at Twilight

Local realtor Brad Eaton and Portland real estate photographer Paul Rich Studio embarked on a collaborative project capturing scenic aerial views throughout the downtown Portland area.

While digging through my archives this morning for another client, I stumbled across this work and felt compelled to post some highlights from this fun project. It’s rare that we get to step away from our traditional work and immerse ourselves in a creative endeavor. So thankful for having had the experience and to come away with a small collection of iconic Portland images.
