The Black Diamond Disaster Wreath Laying & Concert

Today I got to learn about the Black Dimond disaster that took place in 1865. The Massachusetts had struck the Black Dimond on the night of April 26, 1865. Eighty-seven lives were lost when a barge and steamer collided. This tragedy took place near St. Clements island.

You can learn more about this event from the folks at St. Clement's Island Museum.

The 8th Green Machine Regiment Band performed at the Black Dimond reception at Potomac gardens. They are a very talented group that preformed early American brass music.

Earth Day at St. Clement's Island Museum 🌎

I had a great time participating in the Earth Day event at St. Clement's Island Museum. There were many hands-on activities, such as making seed bombs, pinecone bird feeders, and painting terracotta pots. Along with all the fun activities, a group from the local technology center and ST. Mary's River Watershed Association taught about the Chesapeake bay watershed.
