Sometimes the smallest subjects create the biggest challenge.

This morning at Gilbert Run Regional Park, the stars of the show weren't the larger birds that often grab everyone's attention. Instead, it was a pair of small birds that spent their morning darting through the trees and across open spaces at speeds that seemed impossible to follow.

Capturing small birds in flight is never easy. Between their size, unpredictable movements, and incredible speed, getting them in focus can feel like a victory all by itself. More often than not, they're out of the frame before you even realize they've changed direction.

After plenty of missed shots and a lot of patience, I was fortunate enough to come away with a few images of these tiny acrobats. They may not be the biggest birds in the park, but they certainly stole the spotlight this morning.
